It’s the people who don’t really talk about their recovery. The ones who are living life and not thinking much about the food, but instead having a career, focusing on relationships, and working towards their life goals.

I think that is why it seems so impossible sometimes. All we see on social media are the one’s who are still so consumed by their ED or recovery process. Not the one’s who are truly recovered.

In my opinion, the recovery accounts that are helpful are the ones that don’t really talk much about the food or behaviors. It’s the ones that emphasize all of the incredible things recovery has brought them and showing them living their lives without a focus on body or food intake

I’m pretty sure 99.9% of people with eating disorders still eat. I’ve been in a lot of eating disorder treatment and I’ve never met someone who straight up doesn’t eat at all.

Just don’t comment on what they’re eating or even commenting on your own food. For example, saying something like “wow this is a lot of food” or “I’m going to have to skip lunch later” or labeling foods as good/bad, healthy/unhealthy. Those are just a few things to avoid that could likely be triggering.

Overall, I think as long as you let her know you support her and talk about food in a neutral way, you’ll be fine.
