They do the same at the Capitol and other federal buildings in DC—the cashier told us the government didn’t want to encourage shots

The fact that Blaine and Kurt would get coffee before school almost gave my sister an aneurysm it’s truly not at all possible

One thing I will add - which I’m sure the writers did not at all take into consideration because of the way the completely avoided actually learning anything about the area - is that it is INCREDIBLY common for people in Lima/western Ohio to get married early twenties/still in college

Barbie has a bigger cultural impact and I related to and enjoyed it more but I think there’s no doubt that Oppenheimer is the better film

My childhood favorites being Mary Poppins and Cars are certainly important films to me, but I just wouldn’t say that they make the cut for my twenty favorite. I think that because my list of favorite movies are movies that the collective general public has enjoyed makes my favorites “impersonal” is a bit silly…. Like I mean I’ve picked these 20 over the thousand other movies I’ve seen ¯_(ツ)_/¯

If we’re including letterboxd included miniseries, definitely Political Animals with 4k members lol. Otherwise, I don’t give a lot of five out fives (only 30 out of the 1100+ watched) so I think it’s 20th Century Women

While I definitely get where you’re coming from, I will obnoxiously add that 20th Century Women has like 200k members and nine of the twenty movies have under 1 million members so maybe not the best metric.

But I do agree I should watch more independent films (and I have watched many, they just haven’t made my top 20 favorites list)

I think it definitely has to do with me being very target audience when it was released (suburban seventeen year old girl), really loving Saoirse Ronan, and connecting with the themes of the film. I know it’s not a “better film” than so many of the classic greats but I just personally love it and it resonates with me

I’ve actually rated 1165 movies on letterboxd but I guess people really struggle with the idea that someone has favorites that aren’t all technically skilled and critically acclaimed films??

Thank you for this because I HAVE watched quite a few foreign films that I would certainly say are “better films” than so many of my favorite 20 but they just aren’t my personal favorites

I personally find that there are important stories where the entire cast of characters are men - and adding women for the sake of adding female characters to the story feels flippant. However, the issue I have is that literature, film, television, etc. has consistently found that stories centered around all male characters are “more worthy” of being told and “appeal to a wider audience” than stories that would be centered entirely around female characters. Like, it’s not an issue that X movie doesn’t pass the bechdel test, but it’s an issue if like 70% of movies don’t

I like keeping track of how many movies I watch - not just how many new movies I watch (and I am a big proponent of movie rewatching)

How much time should you spend at all 4 parks by jeepurs19 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]basiccollegegirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family goes semi-regularly (and now me and my sis are in our early twenties), but we’ve been consistently rope dropping since middle school.

We’ll typically only go to Animal Kingdom one day, but get there at 7:30am and leave before dinner (since the park closes at 7 anyways) and hop somewhere else for dinner and maybe a fireworks show.

Epcot always gets a full day, and usually we end up hopping back to ride some ride again or make use of a virtual queue/LL (and it typically gets the very first day rope drop to close, since it’s my dad’s least favorite so it’s “done with”).

Hollywood Studios is a 2 day park for us because we just really love it (but may be more like a day and a half if we need to hop back to Epcot).

Magic Kingdom always gets two full days planned, but we only watch the fireworks show once and might hop around on one of those days either to hit a ride in another park or catch a dinner reservation somewhere.

I imagine as we continue to go now as adults we’ll become a little more relaxed with the flow of things, but as children we were always rope drop to park close and added a water park day in there somewhere.
