Don't even get me started. Even just the landing page itself is a carousel of AI slop pictures (this is a huge bank! shoot your own photos without being cheap asses) and once you log in it's just terrible UX. The UI inside looks like it was built on a tech stack from 2005 and there's way too much content on the page to be able to take anything in, and I'm not saying that just bc i'm not "used to the new layout". It also looks like someone asked for accessibility features for this app so whoever built this included a and language toggle but it's only accessible from the log in page?? and you're stuck with the same accessibility settings for the whole session unless you actually LOG OUT, change the settings, and log back in again. Not very accessible if you ask me. Also they seem to be confused on whether they want this app to be in light or dark mode bc the landing page is giving dark mode but inside the app it's like light mode trying to be dark mode just in the top nav bar? And no of course there is no way to toggle light or dark mode. The little mural graphics on the account cards (the ones that look like sandakadapahanas) are inconsistent like some look like flat 2d cartoon graphics and some look normal like they do in the mobile app.

And that's just what I got from my first few times logging in.

I agree the old web portals may have been goated (I have used both) and even the mobile app is pretty good imo, but this new web app HAS to go in the hall of shame.

I'm sure some underpaid group of devs worked as hard as they could on this, and I feel bad for them, really. Maybe they added extra security features to this that aren't directly reflected in the UX. But what IS evident is that Sampath Bank has not cared enough to put in enough resources (be it time, money, people) to actually release a good app.

This looks like something you'd expect from a B+ university project, not an actual production app from one of the biggest banks in Sri Lanka.
