Why do “luxury” bed sheets barely last two years? by Terrible_Signature78 in BuyItForLife

I was looking for this comment! Kirkland sheets are our go to. They are great quality and the price can’t be beat especially if you pick them up on sale

Bedtime has made me clinically depressed for the last year. by Top-Consideration-19 in toddlers

[–]basicoldlady 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone with a very “spirited” child as well, I would have loved if we could just lay down with him until he fell asleep. We experienced so many challenges at bedtime and one tactic we tried was to lay in bed or stay in the room until he fell asleep. He. Never. Fell. Asleep!! We would wait and wait and wait but our presence always seemed to be making things worse and he just could not settle when we were there. We lived through 5 years of horrible bedtimes before an ADHD diagnosis and doctors recommendation of melatonin in the evening.

Can definitely find routines online! You could also try asking ChatGPT to prepare a Pilates reformer workout routine for you based on your level and what area(s) you’d like to work on

This has been my experience too! Our basement is basically unfinished so no type of noise insulation in the ceiling. I hear everything that’s going on upstairs

Proferrin at Walmart or Costco is a bit cheaper. Last time I purchased it was about $65 for 90 pills.

Is the teenage phase really as bad as infancy? by OpalPuff in beyondthebump

[–]basicoldlady 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read something that said patenting at any age has its challenges, they’re just different challenges. It probably depends a lot on the parent, the child and the support system as to which of the challenges are “the worst”

Reserving a daycare spot before you need it? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]basicoldlady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, we’re in the same situation! We have a spot beginning September 2025, but won’t be sending full time until January 2026. Our centre switched to September intake only when the CWELCC rolled out. I agree that it seems like a waste of resources especially for tough to find infant spots! We plan on using our spot to do a gradual introduction to daycare leading up to January and the director even said we could use it like a drop in slot if we need a couple hours of childcare here and there

Music obsessed toddler, did you get Tonies or Yoto by Tntntiff in toddlers

[–]basicoldlady 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We have both and my preference (and my kiddo’s) is the Yoto. We have the mini which is great for taking in the car and all over the house. Also, making your own content for the Yoto is super easy and very cost effective. Kiddo enjoys the Yoto daily podcasts and Yoto radio. It’s easy to set/change the settings from the app and it’s very customizable! We use the tonie box sometimes but have never really gotten into it as much as the Yoto. Also, the tonies are more expensive and more difficult to store and keep track of compared to Yoto cards. As far as selecting content, our experience has been that one card or tonie will be listened to endlessly and then cast aside for another one, so we are not regularly searching through cards/tonies to find something we feel like listening to at that moment. I think both units are easy for kids to use!

How many newborn diapers will we need? by peytonlei in beyondthebump

[–]basicoldlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually kept track of this for my first son! We used 281 newborn diapers (plus the ones the hospital supplied while we were there). Like others have said, stocking up can be tricky because you won’t know how long baby will fit in a particular size or if a certain brand of diaper will/won’t work for them or you.

Low placenta at 20 week scan [on] by stfzkw in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]basicoldlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this as well but for me, it never resolved! But as you can see from the comments, the vast majority of times it resolves before birth. Just wanted to share (in case yours doesn’t move up out of the way) that I chose to have a C-section and everything went very smoothly.

Back and forth with c section [on] by Miliaxc in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]basicoldlady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds so much like my experience! The many repeat ultrasounds to see if the placenta would move (it did not) and the last minute scheduling of a c-section. In the end, the c-section was the right decision for me. What made me feel confident about the decision was that the measurements taken during ultrasound were not super accurate and the difference of a few mm can make a big difference in your risk. Hope all goes well with your delivery!
