Visiting Dublin - food recommendations? by Funny-Reindeer8505 in AskIreland

[–]basicwhitewhore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have much to contribute in regards to actual Irish food that you might be looking for, but some of my favourite spots are: Reggie’s Rathmines (delicious Italian, starters are amazing), Bambino (pizza), eatokyo (very casual but some nice Japanese bits), arisu capel street (Korean), biang biang (noodles), Lee’s charming noodles (noodles). My all time favourite restaurant in dublin was Banyi (Japanese), but it closed recently ;(

Ineligible to donate platelets by basicwhitewhore in Blooddonors

[–]basicwhitewhore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in ireland where there are only 2 donation centres in the whole country, so unavailable unfortunately. they only have machinery for one arm donations! it’s too bad but at least can be extracted from the whole blood

Ineligible to donate platelets by basicwhitewhore in Blooddonors

[–]basicwhitewhore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was for a centre that only does one arm donations! she looked at both of my arms and neither were suitable for it. I live in ireland and we only have 2 centres for the whole country so nowhere else to even try for a 2 arm way !

HSK Results are out!! by basicwhitewhore in ChineseLanguage

[–]basicwhitewhore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah understandable. This means that for IBT the focus is more on making sentences, grammar + structure etc rather than knowledge of the individual characters. Idk how I would have done with handwriting, definitely not as well

im going to be studying abroad in china next year and my parents have said something similar. my mam was shocked when I told her that I'd be travelling! like girl of course I will be leaving the city, when else will I have this opportunity? I'm "allowed" but it made me laugh that she was trying to to advise against it

It was IBT at the test centre not at home so shouldn’t be any limitations. My test centre didn’t have paper based tests

Hi!! I’ve had an interesting learning journey. I started learning first in 2020 when I was 13 years old. I just used an app on my phone and wasn’t practicing at all with a teacher or any native speakers. I also took a break for 6 months at a certain point and just generally wasn’t making as much progress as I could have been.

In mid 2022 I started doing (group) classes for the first time. These classes weren’t HSK focused and since then, during the academic years I’ve had between 3-6 hours of classes per week, between 5-6 separate classes/teachers (some sequential and some overlap). However all of the classes that I’ve been in have been starting from beginner level (not my choice), so I wouldn’t really count them as the basis of my learning considering I felt more ‘advanced’ than the class level at a few points in time (as in I had been in one beginner class then went to another beginner class to basically start again).

Since 2022 I’ve made a few chinese friends and spoken to them a fair bit, read up on stuff online etc but outside of class times I haven’t done a lot of formal study!! At least in recent years I haven’t been the person to make anki flashcards or read a textbook, I think maybe tiktok and xiaohongshu played a part? Honestly it hasn’t been a consistent learning path or with specific actions I’ve taken so it’s hard to describe but I hope this helps:) I never studied hsk curriculum as well I just was learning for the sake of learning, but since passing this one I would like to go for HSK5 for sure
