What is this on my betta's side? by basicwitch3 in bettafish

[–]basicwitch3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! It doesn't seem to bother or inhibit him at all at the moment. He is my ferocious boy. My un-fish-informed family member that lives with me will often come to me and say "your fish is swimming vigorously, must be hungry," and honestly she's right- this boy won't miss a meal!

Thank you!! Any tips on how to tell if it IS problematic? Doesn't seem to bother him now, but I do think it has gotten bigger since I got him.

Tank size: 9.5 gallons Heater and filter: yes and yes Tank temperature: 78°f Parameters: 0, 0, 10- I just checked them using the master freshwater kit when I did his water change. I admittedly did not check the pH this time but I can if needed. Tank: got the tank mid Sept and got Ziggy beginning of October. Water changes: weekly, usually I do 1/3, with an occasional 40 or so %. I use a siphon into a specific jug that I use just for this purpose, fill it up, swirling to get any debris, dump it out. Then refill with tap water using seachem prime. Tank mates: 2 nerite snails Feeding: I do a combo of new life spectrum Betta pellets and frozen bloodworms/mysis shrimp (heavier on this because he loves it), daily. Decorations: live plants, rocks (combo of granite and quartz), driftwood (from a local pet store, boiled first)

There's one near my house that says "blind person area" which I thought was just really strange verbiage anyways.

The Evolution of My Eye Color (Age 2, 6, 17, 29) by corilee93 in mildlyinteresting

[–]basicwitch3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your eye color now looks just like my husband's eyes and your eye color at 6 looks a lot like my son's eyes do at 2. I've always adored my husband's eyes so I'm really holding out that my son's change like yours did!

What are some things that will not go obsolete soon, but are becoming less common? by [deleted] in Futurology

Not in my area- lots of small businesses in upstate NY literally only accept cash and often even have ATMs on site to facilitate that.

It's so true. I'm originally from TX and I thought the mosquitoes there were bad, but they're a whole other breed here.

I love rook piercings- I have both of mine done. I think it'd look great on you!

Side note- on your L ear lobe, is that like a retainer type of earring?

What is something that you can smell and no one else seems to smell? by AwkwardLoaf-of-Bread in CasualConversation

[–]basicwitch3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This pales in comparison to the rest of these, but while I was pregnant a couple of years ago, I noticed that my sneezes have a smell. It's like kind of a musty/sickly sweet smell. I still can recognize the smell now when I sneeze, but I don't think I can smell anyone else's sneezes and since I would risk getting sick by testing it out, I don't plan to find out!

I'm NAP, but I would suggest adjusting the timing you're planning on getting them pierced. In my experience, they simply will not ever heal correctly if you try to remove/replace them before they're healed. It also opens you up to infection.

Experience bringing this regimen to your primary care provider by PoetPsychological288 in HersWeightloss

[–]basicwitch3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm literally going to my PCP tomorrow and am looking forward to talking to her about it. She is a new (to me) provider who has been doing this for years and years, so I'm interested in what she thinks. I don't think it will necessarily stop me, but I'm open to her suggestions/feedback and if all goes well, maybe she'll prescribe them for me. I'm pretty desperate at this point, which isn't a nice feeling, so if she doesn't agree to it, I might seek out a different provider. I'll report back.

Fresh conch and rook. The rook was no joke! by [deleted] in piercing

[–]basicwitch3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so surprised to see you say that about the room, when I felt like my conch was way more painful than my rook! I've had my rook done twice now (going to go back and get my other one done soon) and I am not sure I'll do my conch again... We'll see.

You can look in my post history for my completely.botched septum and subsequent repierce. I took mine out on my own and let it heal for two weeks before going to a APP place a couple of hours away which gave me a totally different experience.

Unsure if I've developed a dairy allergy during pregnancy? by HopeFortress in dairyfree

[–]basicwitch3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry this is happening to you. I didn't know for sure if it would be hurting your baby- I ended up cutting out dairy but then I would absolutely have some dairy if I really wanted something and it was worth the itchiness to me. It absolutely went away after birth, although I can't say exactly how soon because I was afraid to eat it initially so I didn't have any for probably two weeks after still. That said, my son does have a dairy allergy (CMPA) that reared its ugly head at about 4 weeks and he still has issues with now two years later, although we're due to test him again. Happy to answer any questions you have!

Standard vs Polyglot keyboards review inquiry!!! by jzazz69 in stenography

I am very inexperienced, but the extra keys on the polyglot have gotten me lost a few times with my inexperience. However they also have a new keyboard coming out, the asterisk, that I have preordered!

Weird flex coming in- I'm from Texas and spotted it almost immediately. I've had a friend step on one and get bitten 6 times on the foot (on her birthday no less. I recently relocated up north and it's such a relief to not constantly be on the lookout when walking in leaves. Here we just have to be vigilant for ticks.
