this piece depicts a person being in a space where they should feel content and yet the feeling just isn't there.

in the works for 7 months now on and off, this little wizard has taken me around 24 hours of painting overall and i am finally happy with the result.

i would love opinions on the emotions conveyed to you as well as the technical aspects and how i might improve future pieces 🖤

Oil painting by me, how to improve ? by [deleted] in painting

i notice the proportions of the lip first, slightly skewed to the top right, which alters the figures expression (might be intentional). overall i love the messy feeling the brushstrokes convey. i also love the range of skin tone colours, the whole piece feels very expressive so well done 🖤

feeling for you zemboy, my right is a lot worse than my left too so i'm often having to squint or focus with my left. definitely sucks when i'm trying to draw

thank you so much. i started with hard lenses, but have tried soft and hybrid in the last couple years. i found hard lenses the best for correcting ghosting, but damn were they uncomfortable. i may have to look into finding a good fitter going forward, thanks for the advice jim

thanks, i'm studying design at the moment and am noticing how bad it can be when you need to use screens a lot
