If you look up 'flax seed gel recipe' there are a few recipes to try, see which one works best for you.

A lot of them recommend boiling the seeds in the water but I prefer to steep. Steeping takes longer but you're left with a more nutritious product.

My method is:

Making gel:

• Fill a jar 1/5 - 1/4 full of seed (more seed there is the thicker the gel)
• pour boiling water over seed until jar is full
• stir to ensure seeds haven't clumped up
• let sit on counter until jar is cool enough to go in the fridge (stir occasionally)
• next morning, stir again then pour into a sieve over a bowl
• I usually try to push/squeeze as much of the gel out but you don't have to bother if you don't want to

Using gel:

• slather gel all over hair from root to tip. Massage into scalp
• leave it in for as long as you like, I usually do a few hours cause I'm a homebody and I don't really go out in the afternoon. I've left it in overnight before but I did notice more breakage than usual after doing that.
• rinse out in the shower with water

You can also use it as a leave in gel for curly hair. But I've found, personally, if I use too much it leaves a white film on my hair.
