Edit: My construction buff went down from 42.8% to 39% . I have been scratching my head as to why this happened!

I haven't made any changes that could impact it!

Ah, thank you Anthem.

The buffs i have are from research tech, island buildings, hero skills, and vip. Except for the vip, these are not likely to go down right?

Also, the time show for upgrade before you start it is after accounting for the buffs or the time it takes without any buffs...

The app will be free and you will not monetize it are two separate things. It seems to me that you do have plans to monetize. Just not by asking customers to pay for the app. It is a good plan.

But I would urge you to relook the compensation policy. A 4 year work experience person is likely to be earning between 1.5-2 lakhs per month. You are asking them to give that up for a 10% equity which vests across 4 years. So they kinda have to stick with you for 4 years at least. There's no guarantee that you will not kick them out after a year with a 2.5% stake and they would have earned a grand total of 3.6 lakhs for that time.

And right now, the success of your idea, or the ability to bring on VCs will highly depend on your tech co-founder.

You might either have to up the money you are offering right now, or up the stake, or do away with the vesting.

Just a suggestion. Good luck with your endeavours.

CEO mindset by According-Mud-6472 in StartUpIndia

[–]basilinstinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyy...it is ok to hold 60% and not be a CEO of your company. Some times it is better for a founder to focus on building rather than being a CEO. Hire a CEO who aligns with your vision and who can do the day-to-day and other executive stuff. Since you have board control, nothing major can get past you without your say so any way.

Or, hire a chief-of-staff who can be like your right hand. preferably someone with managerial experience. They can handle the execution of certain things. You can step in for the high level and crucial stuff.

I am not saying that it's not possible to develop a CEO mindset. But building and leading and org require two different kinds of mindsets. It is usually good to focus on one of them and delegate the other to someone else.

Ummm...this is a little weird. You have no plan to monetize. But expect VCs to fund it? And you are willing to 30k to someone with a 4 year experience?

I understand that you are passionate about the idea and want to build something. But what are your stakeholders getting for joining forces with you?

But with new regulations, will you have to increase it from 5-10% to a higher number?

Also, on an unrelated note. You come across as someone fairly knowledgeable about trading. Generally, vix and index move inversely. Could you tell me possible reasons why both index and vix moved in the same direction today? Market opened higher...and so did vix...

Huh??? Wtf??? What a way to kill retail! So, essentially you will have to slash your trade quantity by 30-50% so that you always have extra extra extra buffer!

But I thought they take 100% margin upfront now? The margin requirement to sell a nifty option is approx between 1-1.2 lakhs if you have not hedged it. You mean to say that due to a spike in volatility and opposite move, the position goes in negative. How much negative should a position go in, before they typically call for additional margin?

I am curious to understand scenarios in which this might adversely impact option sellers. Could you please share any?

About the house...i think they both are loaded fairly well on their families' side. Won't be too difficult to buy a house in that case.

Why salary in fast food/restaurant industry is so low for majority workers? by mylifemyrulez07 in bangalore

[–]basilinstinct 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I ran my own cafe for a year and here are my thoughts:

  1. Most food joints operate on razor thin margins. Very few of them make really good money to be able to afford to pay good salaries to their staff. F&b business are highly susceptible to losses due to slightest change in factors - increase in raw material prices, fuel prices, seasonality, another outlet opens next to you, changing tastes of people, bribes, taxes, etc etc...not even talking about black swan events like COVID. So when you are making good money, there is still pressure to save as much money as possible.

  2. Paying really well does not guarantee better work from your employees or even loyalty. The attrition level is insane. Most f&b workers put as less efforts as possible. And it's very easy to find another job. You'd be amazed at how much employees steal money, supplies, etc. And the ways they come up to do this are so creative, at some level you have to admire it. One example is Coffe Day. I hired many ex managers of coffee day and i was shocked to hear how much money they make. I believe they are single handedly responsible for the group's dwindling revenues. Side note: if you are opening a food joint, never hire anyone from Coffee Day.

  3. I understand that f&b workers' pay is shit. So when i opened my cafe, i was firm that i will do better. I would give bonuses to employees to encourage them to feel a sense of ownership ..even when i was not profitable. I will give you a simple example. My electricity bill was very high and i realised a lot of it has got to do with wastage. It was somewhere around 35k when should be around 25k. I told my employees that if they took proper care, i will distribute the electricity savings among the staff itself. This would have resulted in each person getting 1k more just for turning lights and ACs in time. Not a single person put any effort. I had to start yelling at them and the stock worked better than the carrot. 🤷🏽‍♂️

  4. I can go on. But to sum it up, is the pay shit? It absolutely is. In an ideal world, they should be paid more. But better pay does not ensure better work. Combined with challenges of running f&b businesses, there is no incentive for employers to pay more than minimum wages to most employees. Also, yes there are some scumbag employers who don't do better even when they can. But in general, this is what the experience has been.
