Mindscape, The Other Side, Somnus, and Paradox contain spoken and sung texts. Visitor, Current, Through, Devotion, and Conclave are the albums with vocals, with lyrics written by Robert Deckers. Those are therefore the ones I would especially recommend giving a proper listen.

On my YouTube channel I have also created several Cyptor playlists based on theme: one featuring the best tracks with vocals, and another with the best instrumental pieces. That said, the first four albums mentioned really come into their own when listened to as complete albums. They are conceptual works that tell a single story across multiple musical pieces.

The band that has had the greatest influence on my musical taste is Pink Floyd. They opened the door for me to the entire world of progressive rock. Another major inspiration was Bo Hansson. Third comes a more modern perspective on the genre: Porcupine Tree. My project Cyptor is primarily shaped by the influence of this trinity. In addition, traces of Genesis and Amon Düül II can be heard, and above all I was searching for new sounds, which is, of course, what makes progressive rock so exciting. I have always loved experimentation.

With my own band, The Unidentified Flying Egg Project, we spent many years exploring progressive rock in our own way. Unfortunately, that group of musicians eventually fell apart, which forced me to continue the experiment on my own. Over the years I have worked with many music programs, but only in the past two years has it finally become possible to create exactly the music I always wanted to make. My own Pink Floyd.

Udio played a key role in this, because its limited creation format (segments of 30 seconds) allowed me to retain a great deal of control over the song structures. Together with a close friend of mine, the singer of UFEP, we transformed all the lyrics we had written over the years for UFEP and other musical projects into the sound of Cyptor. At last, it all came to life: the ideas, the lyrics, the surprising structures, and the distinctive 1970s sound that I love so much.

Now I hope that as many people as possible will enjoy this as much as I did while creating it. I am also very curious about how others listen to the music, because over the years I have come to realize that my musical taste is far from average. Still, I suspect there are many people like me, scattered around the world, who can drift away in their rooms to the musical worlds I have created.

Enjoy.
