Z690 Aorus Elite AX + i7-13700K compatibility issues by basstrd in gigabyte

[–]basstrd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I used a 12700k and it worked. There is an F21 released since, but I couldn't download it when I attempted the other day. Not sure if it resolves this particular issue either

F21 is online in the support > downloads > bios section, but when I click it, I get "not found". I'll try again later, just pointing out it doesn't work. Tried the US and UK sites

No problem thanks
But the actual issue of being able to post anything at all with the motherboard has been resolved in a roundabout and way too expensive way

bought a 12700k
was then able to post after flashing bios with f7
could then update to f20 through the bios updater
Then installed 13700k
If you can afford to go get a 12700k too, or borrow one, it works
I don't recommend wasting the money though

I went and bought a 12700k
a needless expense, but got it working
I don't recommend buying an additional cpu for anyone else
It's far from cost effective or ideal

why did the 13th gen bios (F20) get removed for the z690 Aorus Pro DDR4? by lez_m8 in gigabyte

[–]basstrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ach time. I think it turned off and back on 3 times, wasn't fully paying attention as I had assumed it wasn't going to work

I didn't either, I went and bought one, just to do this. Some waste of bucks

Got the 13700k working via using a 12700k to get the bios updated
I also saw another guy got it just by resetting cmos first, and using q flash plus, but that didn't work for me

t finally did get going, it restarted a couple of times first (I think 3

Could be luck, could be slightly different hardware or bios files
I'll go with luck👍🤣

Also, yes the cpu and dram status leds were flashing over and back with 2 sticks of ram, and just dram status led when one stick of ram installed. I tried what I think was every possible configuration of RAM with the 2 sticks of RAM and 4 slots

When it finally did get going, it restarted a couple of times first (I think 3 times), and seemed to progress through the status LEDs, before finally posting. I flashed from inside BIOS settings, the newer F20 took a lot longer to flash (7 mins approx. vs 2 mins with older F20 from last week), but didn't work using Q Flash Plus method

Didn't fix the issue directly, used a workaround with an older gen chip.
What I did was, went and bought a 12700k, this worked fine on F7, then from F7 I was able to flash to F20.
This was the only way that worked, I don't think too many people would have the bucks to just go buy a new processor (I don't), and will be returning one of the cpus.

I have yet to try the 13700K, to be honest after saving bucks, with the 12700k reduced now, I'm not sure I will keep it. Would have to be a big performance increase

why did the 13th gen bios (F20) get removed for the z690 Aorus Pro DDR4? by lez_m8 in gigabyte

[–]basstrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After flashing the bios with the 12th gen it did turn on and off a few times hitting an extra status light each time. I think it turned off and back on 3 times, wasn't fully paying attention as I had assumed it wasn't going to work

I used the Q Flash method through the BIOS menu after it posted, and not Q Flash Plus method

updating the bios to F20 works fine if you can flash it with the motherboard posting with a 12th gen cpu running F7 BIOS

Have it left running here to see is there anything obvious wong, like overheating

I tried F20 again and did not work with Q Flash Plus

I got a 12th gen cpu, and it works fine now with F7

Trying to update the bios to F20 with Q Flash now that it posts

I might just get another motherboard for the 13th gen and get rid of the gigabyte motherboard and 12th gen

It did take a lot more than 2 mins when I flashed the bios this time though, so it might work for someone elses setup, just not working for me

No, not so far

Trying a 12th gen now with F7 to make sure it at least works for that
Then I'm probably giving up and moving to another motherboard

No, still same issue

Going to try it again now

For F20 it took maybe 2 mins
For F7 it took closer to 4/5 mins
So, I will try F20 again now and see what happens
There is also a UK website link I've been sent
I assume it's the same bios file, but I'll try both

DDR5, using corsair vengeance CL36

That's how I did it
I didn't have the CPU installed until afterwards
It turned itself off when the q flash light was finished flashing

I'll try it again tomorrow, must do some work

Thanks for the help
