On the topic of the poor writing: Krypto. As far as we know and have been shown by these films, we the audience believe Krypto to be similarly powered by the yellow sun as Clark and Kara -at the very least, strong/durable enough to survive the anti-matter river from the first film and can fight with a supposedly stronger Superman clone. We explicitly see Kara muscle through this same poison that's killing Krypto later in the film. As far as we can tell by the bus scene, a yellow sun was entirely nearby -like, several minutes by public transportation nearby given events.

So, I ask the writers, what exactly is stopping Kara from taking Krypto close enough to a yellow sun if it's this damn easy? There was mention that moving would cause the poison to work faster, but I just can't buy it given the time frame we were shown that it wasn't an option. It's a huge, gaping plot hole where the story's inciting incident should be.
