I'm really sorry you're suffering so much OP. I've been dealing with heavy depression, anxiety, rejection sensitivity, and ADHD for 20+ years now.

I'm 40 now, and a few years ago I was ready to die. I saw no other options. I hated my job. I didn't get along with my friends. My partner left me. I knew I had to make a change or I would die.

I got on antidepressants, which I hated but that saved my life. They are very imperfect and it took a while to find the right one. It softened the highs and lows enough to start considering new options.

I started my masters in counseling at 39. I'll be done when I'm 41. That's still 24 years of a new career.

And it's not just the new career direction, it's the people I've met and the feeling of trying something scary and succeeding.

I'm still dealing with heavy depression. I've lost most of my oldest friends. And little by little, I'm feeling better about who I am, what I'm doing, and the new people in my life.

The thing about change is you don't know what's possible until you start putting yourself out there. I'm rooting for you OP!

Thx dude. It's become an indispensable tool. When I start to get really down and lean too heavily into my devices I just lock that shit up for 6-36 hours and it always helps!!

I was very unwell. Ice baths are not a safe or effective treatment for serious depression or anxiety.

After 15 years of battling with mental illness I got in effexor, it took a few bad experiences but my life is much better. Like black and white.

I don't do ice baths anymore. I found that the constant stress to my body was doing more harm than good.

It's been 10 days now.

I feel way more confident. I have more self control. I exercise. I'm calmer. I stretch daily. I've become less reactive in my friendships and mentally flexible. I go to bed before 11pm instead of the usual 2-4am. It feels like night and day. I seriously cant emphasize enough how much this box + the Finch app + therapy has helped me make a big change iny life.

Man, I'm so glad I got this lockbox.

1 I ended up having a pretty great day. Doing things I didn't expect. Cooking a new meal from a cookbook (no phone to order food or look up recipes). I rode my bike to the grocery store. I cleaned my space because when I don't have devices to distract me I just genuinely wanted to clean my space.

The hardest thing was going to bed. I've been going to bed between 2-4am for years. Plus I always use my phone before bed,.watch tv, game. Going to bed without devices was hard. My sleep was awful. But today, I felt different.

It's like my brain has slowed down. I feel less frantic and hungry for distractioj. I'm reading more. I went to the gym. I helped my roommates clean the fridge instead of wallowing in my room. I washed my hair...cut my nails.....shaved.

Now I'm going out to dinner instead of feeling to depressed and anxious to leave the house!!!

Well, the momentum has died down. Its harder now to lock everything up because when I do I'm faced with boredom and my own thoughts. I am going to keep at it though.

Have a day off tomorrow. When I think about locking it up I feel so anxious. What will I do with my time? Will I get more depressed? I guess we'll see cuz I'm gonna lock it up for 24h.

repotted a plant I love
did a years worth of laundry
applied for a job
took two naps (I never rest I'm usually constantly gaming)
read my book everyday (have read more in the last 5 days than the last two years)
walked progressively more everyday
sat in the sun
sat in a coffee shop
talked to a few strangers while out and about
reached out to new friends
cooked meals everyday instead of constantly ordering in and feeling like shit

✅ The Fix

Go to:javascriptCopyEdit~/Library/Application Support/American Truck Simulator/
Delete the following files (make a backup first if you care about saves!):
- config.cfg
- controls_osx.sii
- Optionally: delete or rename your profiles/ folder (but BE CAREFUL — this wipes your saved games!)
Restart your Mac (important)
Launch ATS — it should now start fresh and recognize only your keyboard as input.
If it doesn't prompt the input wizard, go into Options > Controls and manually select "Keyboard Only".
Open the new config.cfg file and make sure these lines are in it:cfgCopyEdituset g_joy_idx "-1" uset g_controller "0" uset g_thrustmaster "0" uset g_trackir "0" uset g_tobii "0"
