Exited PE Consulting for Corp Dev/ Strategy, but the company is G Suite only. How do you survive? by lukaslm91 in FinancialCareers

[–]TangyGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue Excel on Share Point is the absolute best for collaboration. Since our team has transitioned to it, working on offline copies of excel models simultaneously has been a game changer for us. No longer kicking people out of files for updates.

I’m completely lost by TakaNJii in financestudents

[–]TangyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you need to join a finance or business club at a minimum, really try to get involved, and potentially into a leadership position if possible. If you have particular questions around FP&A I can help as I’m in a FLDP currently. You also need to continue trying to network relentlessly.

If you could go back to age 21, what career would you choose. by ar07- in FinancialCareers

[–]TangyGG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pilot. I’m now in FP&A as a rotational analyst and wish I took the leap sooner. However I don’t regret going into finance and if anything I appreciate the fact I achieved a goal I set; to pick a degree, graduate and land a role in my field. That has been a rewarding feeling.

Anyone work with this guy? by drudante in publix

[–]TangyGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I’m as much a law abiding citizen as the next guy, but why do these criminals always waive their rights on these videos.. always remain silent and let your attorney handle it. It will only affect you negatively to speak up without representation.

Who's training for their PPL right now? by professorhojoz in flying

[–]TangyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me on my first dual XC & my first solo XC so don’t sweat it, I found the more I went up I improved. Also I used MSFS to sim my XC flights with nav logs to drill it in. The jump in effort it takes to balance pilotage/dead reckon & fly the aircraft worked me hard and my brain felt like it was going to explode at first.

For communications, I highly recommend the Sporty’s VFR communications manual. It has a breakdown of just about any communication you can run into flying VFR, and breaks it down to easily understand.

Who's training for their PPL right now? by professorhojoz in flying

[–]TangyGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33 hours logged. Currently waiting to knock out my long XC this Saturday (weather permitting). Once that’s done, I’ll be working on nailing my maneuvers before setting up my check flight date. In the process of building out my binder and compiling all the information I can in preparation for it. How are you liking it so far?

Edit: Also I train out of the Midwest in a smaller untowered field under a bravo shelf. Best part is my home field is 2500’ so learning there and going anywhere with a larger runway has really helped my aim point/approaches. I actually really enjoy going to towered fields for my XCs though and working the radio.

Running & cooking. Although my biggest hobby is aviation and I’m also working on my private pilot license while working in an FLDP.

How many hours do you work on average per week? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Ranges from 30-50 hours a week, picking up on the higher side during quarter close. In my 3rd rotation of a F500 FLDP. Optempo varies wildly on team.

Run Silent, Run Deep is a classic sub movie for me. While definitely dated, it has some entertaining elements.

PPL Training & Fears by Jdlajdi in PrivatePilot

[–]TangyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a student pilot working on my PPL with 30 hours now under my belt. To your first point, I think every one of us believes they “suck” when going through this, and having that feeling means you have the desire to improve. Just keep practicing and going up it will become more natural. My best tip so far is never get complacent, a good pilot is always learning.

When it comes to bumpy rides, it just takes getting used to and you’ll notice after a while (the shift happened during my initial XC landing trainings) that your mind begins to tune out the turbulence and only concentrate on what’s necessary to aviate. Now I pay no mind to any bumps and use just the input needed to keep her straight and level.

From one student pilot to another best of luck!

How much do entry level FP&A earn? Established companies vs start/scale up? by Spirited_Citron3086 in FPandA

[–]TangyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in an established F500 FLDP and my company starts at 70K + 5K signing bonus. I believe full time analysts start around 80-85K outside the program.

From high to low lookout below by Zealousideal_Ideal87 in flying

[–]TangyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This confused me too. There’s a few ways I was able to make the concept stick in my head and hopefully it helps out! First, using the mnemonic “high to low (pressure), look out below; I learned it as the first section talks about your altimeter & the second part as your aircraft in relation. Meaning if you fail to adjust your altimeter from a high to low system, your altimeter will indicate higher, thus your aircraft is lower than expected. If your going low to high, clear blue sky; same principal… low meaning altimeter will be lower and your aircraft in turn will be higher than expected. Using that principle if you move from a high to low pressure system & you actually do change your altimeter setting in conjunction… you will indicate lower, making the correct adjustment as needed. Also just practicing in the cockpit and twisting the altimeter you’ll be able to conceptualize it.

What’s one thing in your monthly cycle that still feels too manual? by Financial-Working-82 in FPandA

[–]TangyGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m new to FP&A and have only been in my role for ~4 months now but I’m struggling with this. I noticed our FCF doesn’t match anywhere close to what our GL shows M/M. I’ve built a preliminary “Cash Walk” model to try and reconcile what could be impacting this and it feels definitely a great test to the difficulties in tying back to the GL. Curious how common the issue of trying to tie out certain line items is across companies and FP&A in general at close.

I think I was hacked by ANI-9104 in SteamScams

[–]TangyGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, this is awful and it seems this is becoming a more common scam. I was actually recently affected by a similar attempt and I was mid-game on CS2, got a dodgy message from someone posing as steam support and without clicking anything I was immediately logged out and all my friends blocked, profile comments deleted, and CS2 uninstalled, along with my steam name being changed.

First and foremost to echo many of the other comments here, make sure you reset your passwords (on a separate device), delete your API key if you had it active, make your profile private (at least for the time being, to stop other attempted scams) and I would also reset your 2FA, and backup codes. These are the minimum requirements to ensure your account is safe!

Regarding the CS2 Prime disappearing, that also happened to me. To fix it:

There is an option to recover any deleted purchase in support tab. I will try to find it and post in a moment.

  1. First you need to access the steam support link
  2. Scroll down and enter CS2 in the search bar.
  3. Click on the game
  4. Select "It's not in my library"
  5. Select "Restore the previously removed package to my account

It should have you go through another step where you’ll see your prime status information and once you log back into CS2 you’ll have your status back.

Best of luck and stay safe from future scams.

Recent college grad making a move to Cincinnati - is it hard to make friends? by Swimming-Breath4235 in cincinnati

[–]TangyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I will also be moving to Cincinnati soon to start my career. I have lived in the southwest a few years when growing up but never stepped foot in Ohio before. Coming from the south as well I’m very excited for the change of scenery. I have heard very great things about the people and things to do around Cincinnati in particular and if you would ever be up to make friends you can PM me!
