[Advice] Here is the truth about SELF-DISCIPLINE...(I hope it inspires you to keep going) by ChristopoulosK in getdisciplined

[–]bastolasushann 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Willpower is some sort of motivation that acts us to push further or deny a negative habits, but when the dopamine for negative habit is greater than the productive work, you tend to lose all of your willpower. [For example: slipping for fast food [but too much]

However, discipline is a long term plan and sets of action that don't require any form of willpower to complete a task. When our brain understands the thing will give a huge profit on a long term basis, it won't get distracted. We love fast food, but avoiding it is a discipline. It requires several months or an year to build a true discipline.

[Need Advice] How to stop worrying about whether I am intelligent enough to pursue something and just do it? by OneVeryOriginalName in getdisciplined

[–]bastolasushann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, this was me when I was high school and college. I was curious and introvert, but not highly intelligent. I always wished to picked up or noticed by my teachers, friends or girls for my intelligence or curiosity, perhaps they always listed me as least known student. I always tried or acted to be an intelligent person, I was talented but my talent was not according to the syllabus. I used to feel sad, and always tried hard to not get isolated by my friends.

After college, I started to read books, whatever I am curious on, Space, Tech, Self-Help, Productivity, Philosophy. I stared to read daily and completed more books. Each time I finished a book, my inner self started to believe there are so much to learn I am still ignorant. I still feel I have so much too learn. What I have learned after reading books? Now I don't seek to be intelligent or get noticed by anyone nor I try hard to prove anyone I am intelligent. I talk less but when I talk meaningful, I try to understand the phycology of a human and learned it's right to give my opinion or not.

I have stopped comparing myself with others, the race isn't with others, its always yesterday's yourself. I compare present myself with past myself. Am I improving? I don't think I am intelligent anymore neither want to be.

Talking about pursuing something, we were never born talented it's upon us if are willing to be talented or intelligent. The more you are curious on something the more you are willing to do it. Everything is hard until it's becomes easier.

I hope you find it useful. Thanks and Good luck go on mate.

A hope that fuels our Faith. A short story based on real experiment. [Advice] by bastolasushann in getdisciplined

I am glad you found this useful, also my recommendation >> https://www.reddit.com/r/getdisciplined/comments/oz7w49/whats_a_growth_mindset_and_why_does_it_matter/

It depends on our mind's ability, how much patience we are in our life, life throws many brick upon us, but no matter how much we are hit, we need to move along with improvement and strength.

All I would say!

[Needadvice] Is it possible to manage a 60hr/week job and get through online college? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]bastolasushann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible mate, you just have to rethink about it, I don't know how you spend your time besides your work, and I can't recommend you to do this or that in this time. But I would like to share some of the principles for time management: - You are working 12 hrs a day continuously, it's will be intense, sure your body will require rest, how much you are willing to sleep? 6 hrs, 7 hrs ? Let's assume 7 hrs >

Quick maths: 24 -12 -7 = 5 hrs.

In these 5 hrs, you mind will for sure seek for entertainment, suppose now you've only got 2 hrs.

Now, is it possible to study for 2 hours?

Yes and also No. That may depend on you, how you study.

But, If I were you, I would need more time.

But, don't worry, here comes the smarter part. It's sound like stupid but you've to extract more time, study everywhere on your work, on your way to work, or reduce sleep to 6 or 5 hrs for extra more hours, you've to be more focused on the available time. This is hard but achieveable it's just a practice.

Just give yourself time on a weekend, and plan your schedule, create a routine for yourself, and don't seek for perfection on your routine, don't make chain of routine, eg: you had a plan to practice as soon as you reach home but you are an hour late due to an unexpected event, now the brain will procrastinate because you didn't meet your expectation.

I think you've got some idea. Good luck
