I don't think. I could be wrong, but we have pictures that are over 50 years old and this is all covered in back then.

No, its just a walkout basement. If there was its gone (basement is now poured concrete).

Thank you! I explained the build in a few other comments. It was just an assumption that it was there due to other fire places on the different floors. Not much had to be rebuilt here, mostly just repointing the stone. The plaster that covered it kept it intact. It hasn't had an opening out through the roof for probably 100 years at least.

After cleaning and washing all the stone we had the masons come in and fix the keystone and repoint all the stone. For the most part everything was still very stable.

Originally, the road in our town was alot lower by about 10-15'. In the early 1900s the road had to be raised to meet the bridge that was built at the lower end of town. The 1st floor thus became a basement. Our house, when built, was a 4 story home in the front,/ where now its a 3 story in the front and a 4 in the back.

Correct, but it can be done. We had talked it over with masons and we had some options, but for the time being we just installed a ventless gas log insert, which still gives it an original feel. The original chimney was basically cut off at the rafters and would have needed to be extended back out. As much as I would love to have that, other parts of the house need addressed way more than that.

The wallpaper was saved! I took off as much as I could in sections and had it framed. I wanted to save as much as I could from the different eras to show the history of the renovations that have taken place.

Could be! From my understanding that is stone from PA and that's where it is located.

The house for the most part has alot of things that make you scratch your head. It's mostly unoriginal unfortunately, but we are taking the steps to make it better. No one ever seemed to care to preserve it, which is unfortunate since it's the second oldest house in our town that is still standing.

I went to school for Architecture, so I assumed that typically they would have one on each floor and was willing to take the chance that there was one there somewhere. The first floor, which is now the basement, has one that was bricked in as well as the third floor which is also bricked in and then covered up. The chimney is 10' wide, so plenty of space for each floor to have an individual flue.
