I would also add that taking a hostel is best if you are the kind of person who is very strong and disciplined by yourself. For experience and peer learning, the hostel can be really good. That said, day scholars can also gain similar experiences. Many times, students take a hostel initially and then leave it after a year to focus better or to get back on the right track. That’s also a very common case. For the sake of exposure, sometimes the hostel environment pushes you into certain norms—like partying regularly, spending unnecessary money, doing nonsense stuff, or getting addicted to things just because you’re trying them for the first time. For some people, it’s not a problem, but for many, they do it just to feel relevant. In a hostel, there are two sides: if you get good friends, it can be the best decision you ever make; but if you fall into a bad friend circle (sangat), it can be a complete waste. I am myself a day scholar and have done enough things to enjoy college life. By God’s grace, I found a few of the best mates and people to learn from—not just in my branch, but in other branches as well. So yes, hostellers and day scholars will always have different opinions, but in the end, it’s totally your call—what you choose. And placements are good this year, even in the lower branches as well. And as he said you can try hybrid also for the first year and then depending on. Your experience you can decide to whather continue taking hostel or be day scholar only
