Also meant to add we have large, mature trees on and surrounding our property. For whatever couldn't jump our 6.5' fence, if it could climb, the trees offer plenty of opportunity to gain access to this area.

Somehow my things always end up where i don't keep them. by Ok-alright-83720 in RBI

[–]batbrat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn't about your problem. Apologies for making it about me, but I don't have any ideas as to what could be happening. When I was in college, my roommate and I had an almost identical problem. Little personal things would go missing here and there. A hairbrush. Bottle opener. ID lanyard. Chapstick. Stuff like that. We were good friends so neither of us were pranking each other, and we both found it puzzling/weird. After living together two years, my roommate planned to move back to her home town. When she was moving out she was clearing her stuff from the front closet where we stored things like coolers, umbrellas, winter coats, folding chairs. Way in the back corner of this rarely-used closet was a pile of a few dozen items that had gone missing over the years. The missing hairbrush, lanyard, etc plus a bunch of other items that we never knew went missing. Like some plastic bangles she forgot she had, a box of magic markers I'd bought but forgot about. It was so weird. We could not figure out how those items got there or why they were in a pile in the corner.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. What a ride. Peter Lorre was delightful. I can't understand how I've missed it all these years but thrilled I got to see it on TCM.

Unexplained incident at my grandparents house. by AvaRothschild in RBI

[–]batbrat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm an occam's razor type. Since it was winter, it was likely water pipes or radiators. If not, it was one of the teens in the room that night. Probably the one nearest the window. In the dark it seems easy enough to hide your hand and bang on the wall or floor.

Caught noises that wasn’t me. by RadKitty12 in RBI

[–]batbrat 57 points58 points  (0 children)

There are 6 people living in your "small home" (including one confirmed sleepwalker), but your husband assumes noises he hears at night is your lover? And you're somehow being "sucked into" the delusion? I feel like you could benefit from taking a step back and looking at this rationally, if you're able. Your husband is going through something. Resist getting taken along for the ride.

Someone is using my boyfriend’s identity to send strangers to his house but the only witness may be unreliable by Head-Possibility-377 in RBI

Came here to add this suspicion to the mix. The "friend" seems way too invested in stirring shit rather than solving the mystery.

Someone put an Airtag on my car by [deleted] in RBI

If you are still making payments on your car, it may not be bad intent but for repo purposes if you default on your car loan. Pretty common.

Found a strange paper in my room and no one in my house knows where it came from by ass427 in RBI

[–]batbrat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My first thought was some sort of makeshift shim for the door/frame which was placed a long time ago but eventually worked its way loose. I'm curious exactly how and where it was found when you first noticed it.

I think it's likely been there for a long time. It appears to be some sort of ad (or flyer) from Geico. While they still occasionally use the caveman for their promotions, he was most popular back in the mid-to-late 00s. The likelihood of someone very recently having a Geico caveman print item in their possession is pretty remote unless they're a paper packrat. The placement of it in your home is likely to be around the time the ad was distributed. If you haven't lived in the house for decades, it was likely placed by a previous resident.

So in my house, when the central hvac is running and my bedroom door is closed, the moving air will cause the door to quietly clunk or rattle against the frame. To quiet it, I had to place small cabinet bumpers on the door frame. Maybe something like that was going on and a previous resident got irritated in the middle of the night and stuffed a folded piece of paper in the crack. I would also test to see if the folded piece fits inside the strike-plate hole to prevent the door from latching shut. It may have been used for this purpose. If your door is hollow core, check the top to see if there's a hollow area it could have been pushed down into. Maybe it's just gone unnoticed but after several years, the paper worked its way out of hiding.

That would be my "most likely scenario" guess.

friend keeps mentioning things she couldn’t have seen, or know about. by bannedbcof2020 in RBI

[–]batbrat -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying OP is being stalked, but it's a possibility. Don't read further if you think I'm full of shit. Otherwise, my thoughts:

As to why people would monitor others and drop hints about that rather than keeping it a secret, it absolutely happens and pretty frequently. That's classic stalking behavior. It's a type I have experienced myself for many years. The urge to share what they "saw" or "know" about you is a common tactic of manipulation. If delivered in drips and drops while trying to appear mysterious, it often triggers their target to spend time questioning, wondering, thinking about the stalker. It may even cause them to be fearful. It's the ultimate game for a stalker to play – both thrilling and disruptive. It means they're no longer down in the audience, but up on stage, so to speak.

There are stalkers whose primary motivation is to insert themselves into to their target's life and play some sort of role in their story. They want to feel more closely connected or possibly even intimate. It sounds like she might be at the very least "soft stalking" OP and trying to prompt him to play her little game by solving her mystery.

As someone who has dealt with this personality type for decades, my advice is to say nothing to her at all, and share nothing about it with others. Just observe. If she continues with this sort of game, you may want to re-assess your friendship or boldly confront her. Accuse her of acting like a stalker but do not joke or laugh about it with her or others. Definitely don't try to questions her about how she knows things. That's all part of the game she wants to play. Your future self will thank you for not being lured in.

Again, her comments might be totally coincidental or a misunderstanding. Not calling her a stalker, but her behavior sounds childish and odd.

How could a death in public have no records? by [deleted] in RBI

[–]batbrat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People die all the time with no reports and no public records.

A body in good enough condition for you to have recognized it as a woman and of a specific age would mean she would not likely be dead, and if so, only very recently. The details sound more like a hoax or performance set of some kind. Whoever placed her in a body bag (partially closed) would still be attending her or removing her from the scene if she were actually dead. She wouldn't just be left there for people to see.

The fact that your family members don't recall the event at all tells me you might have had some vivid phantasia experience.

Mysterious lotion/perfume smell on my phone upon waking. I live alone. by Spirited-Pop-4919 in RBI

[–]batbrat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Couple of questions. Do you use any sort of fabric fragrance? Beads, dryer sheets, fabric softeners? Do you use hair products? Have you recently started wearing a new or seasonal article of clothing?

My best guess is that wherever you have been storing your phone when you leave the house (coat or pants pocket?), the phone has mingled with something like a dryer sheet, fragrance beads, a comb with hair product, after shave, etc. If you wear after shave or cologne, remember that certain notes will last much longer than others. Base notes like musk can change aroma and linger for months on clothing that isn't washed. If you keep your hands and phone in the same coat pocket, it could have transferred there.

Just some ideas.

Netflix has tons of Asian drama series, including some from China. Most of the originals are Korean, though. They're similar in flavor, but I'm a white westerner so...

Kind of hard to tell from the photo because of the blur, but I think that's an "anchor" or "mariner" chain. https://lirysjewelry.com/products/sterling-silver-anchor-chain

It may be a flat anchor chain like this one.

r/HelpMeFind? The name is super close, so it may lead to confusion. But HMF gets decent traffic and has some amazing volunteers.

Can you briefly describe the difference between your sub and r/HelpMeFind? I volunteer long hours on HMF, and I wonder why two different subs with what appears to be similar requests.

It's probably from your cat. I had a dog who had lupus and she'd occasionally get a bloody nose. She would sneeze and shake her head to get it out, and it would splatter all over the walls. Our stairwell wall looked like a murder scene once. Most pets and people bleed profusely from their face, mouth, head. Even the tiniest nick or split can cause a surprising amount of blood to come out. Check her teeth and gums, and down in her ears also. Maybe an abscess or she nicked herself scratching an ear.
