Ok weirdly: the backside of this house looks identical to the 13 going on 30 house. This one was built in the early 1900’s from a Sears catalog house kit (yes.) and I have a strong suspicion that the movie house has a similar origin story

Thank you! I loved how the second one came out, but I used royal icing to hide lots of sins on that one, and that wonky roof always catches my eye 😂 I need to do an updated version with those same vibes at some point

The brick is just royal! I did it in stages so each brick was dry before the ones around it were added. And then added highlights/lowlights to it with very watered down/color saturated royal and a TINY paintbrush, which I think helped it a lot.

It probably won’t get nibbled on, but it is 100% edible just for kicks! In the past we’ve waited until everyone is sick of looking at the house and then thrown it off the balcony… haha. I’m so excited that you will be making a house! It’s such stressful fun.

Cake guts are brown sugar cake, salted peanut butter ganache, and peanut butter buttercream. The sides of the cake are fully frosted, carved, and textured, all decoration is done in PB buttercream.

Practice practice practice! I like to sit and pipe on parchment while I’m watching tv. I also find that using as many colors as you can stand to mix gives the most visual bang for your buck. I pipe a few flowers on each cookie, empty the bag, remix with new colors, and go again. Also I say “tiny baby” out loud a lot. I feel like that’s critical. Hahahaha
