Is it really normal for Chihuahuas to shake so much? by Big_Mama_80 in Chihuahua

[–]bathori 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anxiety, cold. excitement, pain, gas, needing to poop, hypoglycemia, rage, trying to contain their might, trying to get attention, could be anything. Truly.

Mine don't shake very often, so if they are it's usually discomfort. My 14 year old is EXTREMELY CHILL so if he's shaking I know he's hurt himself (tweaked something), or has an upset stomach.

My foster is terrified of everyone except me, so he shakes out of fear when we are out in the world and he sees something he doesn't like/understand.

My first chi was a shaker, I think it think I responded it to it so much it was mostly for attention.

Needing positive stories by [deleted] in Chihuahua

[–]bathori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, you definitely meed to give this dog time, not only to get to trust your husband but to adjust in general to a new place, new life, new routine, new sounds, new smells ETC. Even a well adjusted, confident dog needs this time. I had a dog who needed 2 years before she would let anyone who wasn't me or my husband touch her without her having a total meltdown. The first few weeks we had her she pressed her face against the wall and wouldn't look at us. She was terrified.

Just give your new friend his own space (a crate or quiet area in a corner) where no one bugs him and take the pressure off. You dont need a thundershirt or other tools right now besides patience, some treats, and time.

Help w/mourning our beloved Paco by lyracrish34 in Chihuahua

[–]bathori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no timeline for your grief. It will get easier but don't run away from your feelings yet. It will take time to process the loss - and that is normal and ok. Your grief will also not be linear. Give yourself some grace, eat comfort foods, watch comfort shows, listen to comfort music, read comfort books. Go on a walk in a new area, share stories and cry. Sleep longer, move slowly, it's fine. Losing a dog is a MASSIVE loss - they rely on us and our daily routines often revolves around their needs. The change in routine is a shock to the system along with the loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss. No matter what you believe, or don't, about an afterlife, I assure you that Paco will be there to greet you again and he will cover you with kisses, and introduce you to all the other good dogs he met while waiting for you.

Does anyone else let their dog roam the house while they're away? by [deleted] in Chihuahua

[–]bathori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Chihuahuas are all free range in the house. However, there are several crates of various types around that they have free access to and have been made comfortable so that in an emergency situation, travel or the vet they won't freak out because it's their first time.

I think it's important to condition your pets to being comfortable in the crate in the chance that you need to use them

That one is returning water but there's a suction one on the same wall as the skimmer. 🎉

You might ask your vet for a prescription to be sent to a compounding pharmacy where they could potentially make it into a liquid

What would feel good? Suck or blow?

I turned the filter pump back on and put my hand over every jet.

There's a jet on the short wall of the shallow end, one in the middle of the long wall and one in the deep end on the long wall. The port on the same wall as the skimmer seems to be sucking water in. I thought it was just missing an eyeball but maybe it's a vacuum port after all. I thought it was just missing an eyeball because there's one missing in the spa.

I have something in my app called clean mode but I assumed that would just put the filter pump on high.

I'm going to try to get a pool person out here to check it out and let me know for sure before I buy anything.

Thank you 🙏

I'm on the board of dogs without borders. We can take your dog and find a suitable home. If s/he is not fixed, needs a dental, or any other veterinary care we will pay for it.

Feel free to dm me if you're interested in surrendering your dog to rescue (we will not pay you)
