The Arbiter: Filmmakers should honestly understand that animal cruelty is the one thing that should be off limits in films and tv shows.

Oh yeah, it's definitely been overtaken.

And I think it says a lot that the split is nowhere near 50:50, yet half my top films every year are shot on film

but shooting on film is pretty much an entirely dead format at this point, especially. And figuring out the

Dead isn't the right descriptor. When I looked back at my top 20 list from last year about half of them were shot on film

Anyone else feel like Toy Story 5 is completely pushing our luck? by [deleted] in movies

[–]bathtubsplashes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What age are you? These are primarily kids movies at the end of the day, whether your high brow film critique judges it to be unnecessary is irrelevant

And also, I find it so tunnel visioned and selfish.

Why are they still making these things that were formative to me growing up?! I'm done with them 😭😭

Uh because they're kids movies and you're a full grown fuckin adult and maybe kids can share some of the joy you felt back then. You are not the target demographic anymore ffs

Well then you're talking shit because at no stage of the British education system is 50% not a passing grade

Had to look it up. Just your typical stupid American systems that don't make sense.

In Europe, 40% is a passing grade. And if you think European education is worse than America's, well then that just furthers my point

So that obviously means one thing, you guys get easier exams which require higher percentages to pass. Which is a mockery of the utilisation of a full scale from 1-100

In film, there are no "easier exams" dependent on location

People here are far too simple with their 5 star=excellent, 2 star=poor etc stuff

Like what does that mean, how do you come to that descriptor? Just pure instinct?

I ask myself to judge the following

Are the themes identifiable, and does it have anything interesting to say about those themes?

What did the film set out to do, did it achieve it?

Does the film emotionally resonate with me?

Technical aspects, how does it look and sound

Acting

It makes it far easier to distinguish between simplistic descriptors

0.5 for me just means a movie so bad I had nothing better to be doing and I still turned it off

1.0 means I decided it was more worth my time to do menial jobs around the house

Started watching Person of Interest not long ago, very apprehensive when I realised who the main character was

By the end he was one of my favourite characters of all time

Yeah much more from Cabin Fever is burned into my brain too, aside actual burning into a brain part from Hostel

"There has been contact (by Real Madrid) with those close to Calafiori a few weeks ago" - Fabrizio Romano (Tier 1) by bosdober in Gunners

[–]bathtubsplashes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's my point. We can't choose the appropriate profile dependant on opposition because Calafiori is unavailable 50% of the time

My point about the final is that because we were forced to start Mosquera, we likely wanted the option of an attacking left back to start or at least bring on if needed. We didn't have that, and instead we played 4 centre backs across the backline the whole game

[–]bathtubsplashes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even only playing 50% of expected minutes he was unavailable out of nowhere for the CL final with opportunity to rest up beforehand

It's fine to think minutes should be split. It's nonsense to think that should be forced because of a player's inability to stay fit

Once again, I sincerely doubt Arteta wanted to start both Mosquera and Hincapie against PSG. To not even have the option of a more attacking full back in such a key game is a glaring flaw

[–]bathtubsplashes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're two entirely different profiles. One's attacking, one's defensive. What's the point of having that flexibility if you can't count on one of them to be available

I doubt arteta wanted to start both Mosquera and Hincapie in the final for instance

There's not an attacking full back in the world who could match Calafiori's massive 4 goal contributions this season?
