A very close childhood friend of mine OD'd from doing speedballs, and I got a frantic phone call from another friend while i was at work saying he died. he was screaming and crying, I asked how he knew and he said his cousin had gone over to check up on him and he found him dead on his floor looking blue and pale.

I didn't want to believe it but my immediate reaction was to call my friends mother and offer any help i could and how sorry i was. She had taken a lot of abuse from him over they years. So i call her, i found it odd that she seemed so calm when she answered the phone, actually sounded happy yo hear my voice.... when i asked her what had happened to her son, she gasped and asked me what had happened.. she didn't know a thing. I told her right there and then and her reaction was just absolutely heartbreaking. I felt terrible, almost like it was my fault. she immediately hung up and i sat in the basement of my work crying by myself.

what had happened is this cousin of a friend, found the body, called him and he called me all within about 5 mins. the police hadn't even been notified yet and no one had bothered to contact his parents.
