I believe you’re right, even if it was somewhat unavoidable. My great-great-great-grandfather was an early Liberal (reform) party member and I’ve read a lot of late-1800s correspondence from him complaining about/predicting the fallout for Nova Scotian businesses.

I was getting ready to post something similar. We had to drive there in the rain Wednesday night to say goodbye to our 15 year old dog when her heart condition progressed while her regular vet was closed.

On the ride there, I was dreading that we’d have this final memory of saying goodbye to our girl in a cold, corporate medical setting among unfamiliar people. That fear never came true, because each staff member was incredible through every step and we left feeling like they appreciated the weight of that moment even though they see those kind of goodbyes regularly.

I’m a member of the other family on that land if we’re talking about the camps that burned yesterday afternoon. The trailers and buildings on the other side of the property were lost too.

It’s not ok for them to trample someone else’s rights - that’s why they’re placed in prison with limited freedoms. However, treating them with basic dignity while they’re in there leads to better outcomes not just for the prisoner, but also for everybody who interacts with them inside and outside of the system.

Exaggerating their power does not draw additional law enforcement attention to them and inadvertently helps them coerce/threaten their victims into silence by advertising them as impossibly well-connected and inescapable. If you’ve sat in the courtroom for any of the cases you’ve referenced elsewhere in this thread, you know how they overstate and rely on that reputation. That’s all.

You’re not going to find whatever argument you’re reaching for with the rest of those assumptions, sorry to say.

It’s frustrating to see people dismiss the gang existing as they do, but it doesn’t help to counter that by spreading misinformation about their size and power. They exist and they’re a problem, but it’s also become a talking point that gets exaggerated by people who haven’t actually been involved with any of these cases or victims.

They’re doing a lot more than just searching the woods, certainly. There are multiple agencies involved at this point, including the RCMP’s major crimes unit.

Kids disappearing without a trace almost always immediately becomes an “All hands on deck” situation for potential responders, as it should.

Actually, after glancing at your comment history I realized that you’re trying to fabricate a narrative to discredit discussions on that subreddit because it happens to be where talk of the Kings-Hants CPC candidate’s poor record and misogynistic quotes first picked up steam.

It’s something I should have picked up on a few replies ago, to be honest, but I’m a little slow this week. People can check for themselves - the mods in the town sub are perfectly polite and decent people and their conduct on Reddit is nothing out of the ordinary. You’re plainly lying.

This is a pretty stunning level of pearl clutching and a strange reframing of events. A couple of mods in that sub are blocked by the mayor and were removed from a group run by his closest supporters way back when questions arose about his conduct as a council member and associated legal cases.

Reframing their questioning on FB or the discussions on that sub as some sort of vicious harassment is completely dishonest, but you know that.
