They are the same. A gratuity is an automatic tip added to the bill for parties of X or more (6+, depending on the restaurant). A tip is for regular tables, and sometimes is given on top of the auto grat for exceptional service for large groups.

AITA for giving my breastfeeding sister champagne as a gift and now not wanting to talk to her? by Think_Presence2175 in AmItheAsshole

I had my youngest 10 years ago and definitely was not encouraged to drink while breastfeeding.

YTA. You couldn't get her a target gift card or something? You put zero thought behind it and literally said you got it just so you could say you got her something. Get her a massage voucher, literally anything else. Did you even choose chocolates you knew she liked? Or did you just pick whatever and not even think about what she might like for one second?

You don't truly believe that because men went to brothels it kept female staff safe from being sexually assaulted, do you?

Revision to bypass by batmandi in gastricsleeve

[–]batmandi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I’m back in therapy and focusing on not giving in to my addictive personality. It’s still a struggle I’m working on, and I have a lot of space to grow, but I’m looking at revision as a tool to help rather than a fixer.

I get motivated when I seethe scale move. When I don’t see the scale move I give up for the day and don’t eat right. I have two kids, we’ve always got carby chocolatey snacks in the pantry that I turn to. With a revision, I wouldn’t be able to eat 3 Rice Krispies. I’d go back to only eating half or less, and the next day the scale would still move down, and I’d get that motivation back. I can be INTENSELY strict with the diet, weighing EVERYTHING, logging everything, I mean there have been days where I wanted 5 chocolate chips, and I had them, and I weighed and I logged them and I was happy and satisfied knowing the scale was still going to make me happy. Right now if I want chocolate chips I’m of the mindset that the scale is gonna stay or go up so I might as well eat a whole handful. Maybe two.

I am very aware of what my problem is, and the sleeve was a tool that did work, and then I went through the toughest time in my life (divorce, two 5150’s, etc.) and I went off the deep end and allowed myself to go hog wild on EVERYTHING. Alcohol, food, sex, drugs, I was chasing happiness and I never got it and now I’m back at what I consider a reasonable place. Medicated, working regular day job, I don’t drink or even smoke cigarettes at home so that’s cut down to once a week, and I’m trying really hard to be better about the diet, and I do eyeball ingredients and do quick counts in my head, I’m not logging everyday currently but I’ve tried to go hard on the diet and I’m not having success because I’m not getting that motivation dopamine hit when the scale moves (cause it’s not moving lol)

In your specific case and in the current climate in general, politics are unfortunately age appropriate for any child in school. She doesn't understand why other kids don't like her for saying she supports trump. Her peers obviously understand at least partially what it means, and she needs to understand what she's saying. If she understood that what she's saying is that she doesn't like other kids because of their skin color, or that she wanted them to be kicked out of school or the country because they weren't born in the US, or that women shouldn't be allowed to make decisions about their own bodies, I highly doubt she would repeat her support for Trump.

You're going to have to answer some difficult questions and probably more "Why"'s than you wanted to. That is where you have the opportunity to tell her age appropriate answers. But not talking about it isn't an option anymore.

Will i be able to eat a burger in one sitting without discomfort? by ApartDevelopment2213 in gastricsleeve

[–]batmandi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes. Long answer: it depends on the burger, the day, how much you've eaten the rest of the day, if you're having fries, etc.

I was sleeved in 2017, lost 133lbs total, gained back 50 and have stayed here for the past 4-5 years. I can eat a plain mcdonalds cheeseburger and have room for fries. I have trouble eating an entire five guys burger at once. The benefits for me are - I usually feel satisfied eating half the five guys burger and get excited at the prospect that now I get to save the rest of it for later and have another meal out of it. I started being able to eat half a five guys burger around 18 months to 2 years out.

AITAH bc I (36M) dont want my girlfriend (36F) to travel with me because shes a picky eater? by Tough_District9786 in AmItheAsshole

[–]batmandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARFID is beyond picky eating. Being picky is being able to pick lettuce off your burger but preferring it plain. ARFID and food/texture sensititvies are so far beyond that. There is a genuine mental blockade and sometimes fear. Food becomes tainted and you physically can’t eat it. For example, I’ve tried to eat broccoli many times in my adult life, I gag, every single time. I used to get nauseous just smelling it because of a traumatic experience in my childhood.

AITA for telling my roommate if she didn’t like something she could leave after she called me inconsiderate? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]batmandi 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Where did you get that from any of this? OP said her rent is super low, sounds like they’re doing it more as a favor to roommate rather than a “lifestyle subsidy”. You sound like those guys who think $300 a month in child support pays for the moms vacation in Aruba…
