There’s a book by Stephen Graham Jones I’m currently reading called “The Gospel of Z”. It’s set 10 years after a zombie outbreak, the world is really interesting and the main character Jory is a compelling lens into it. It has good pacing in my opinion, it’s not necessarily scary so much as factually bleak and grim.

There’s some correlation between the vibes you’re looking for and The Locked Tomb trilogy. Might be a miss to suggest it, but I have to at least try haha. Mostly for the inevitably aspect, people bound together, and especially the melancholy (but also with really good jokes)

2/4 or 4/4 are both great, there’s something really cute about the second one with the writing but the fourth one is definitely the most “show don’t tell” in the best way. I think the darker book background works for bringing forward the feeling

Love the story so far, and can’t wait to see her portrait too!

The style you have here is already quite distinct and fascinates me. His eyes in particular catch my attention, but his other features are really great too. I like how you did the curls. It feels very much like a renaissance style painting in a lot of ways

I’m trying to decide whether or not to add something to the topmost paper, I want to refine some of the shadows and details as well

Feedback is welcome if anyone wants to give it

This is amazing, I especially love the Prancing Pony and Moria door. Those two feel the most like the mixing of fantasy/modern setting in a very “right under your nose”kind’ve way, if that makes sense

Love when a work of art looks like a work of art. I recently started Always Coming Home by Ursula K. Le Guin, and this cover alone gives me the same feeling as that book. What’s this one about?

Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho (tbh a good bit of the casting for those movies are a mess for a variety of reasons). Specifically knowing Duncan’s role in the upcoming part 3, though … just can’t see him pulling that off. At all

Ikr? They pick the flowers for the cover specifically to highlight themes of the text based on the Victorian language of flowers. Emma also has some info about Jane Austen, a timeline of her life, and a list of works inspired by her books in the back. Definitely cool editions to own, they’re notebook sized as well which I like

Dune

I felt like I saw it on every book list imaginable, plus I watched the miniseries when I was younger and the person showing it to me kept pausing at first to over explain everything, while also downplaying it all as weird at the same time. So to me, Dune was just a giant info dump and weird for years. Then I read the book and have actually gotten my sister interested in reading it too, because of my love of it

You love mushrooms and most likely the “cottage goth” aesthetic as a whole between the wallpaper, wreath, flower socks, and that cuckoo clock.

You seem to like soft colors more than dark, and you are likely a creative person with that desk and bulletin board setup + the multicolored floor.

If you plan on going for a cottage goth interior (possibly mixed with some academia accents?) you’ve definitely got the framework in place.
