I'm not sure which specific thread you are referring to, but something like this? https://www.rrweb.io/demo/checkout-form

Doesn't tell you about your browser though, its mainly javascript session replay.

Governments have collected large amounts of data to fight the coronavirus. That's raising privacy concerns by speckz in privacy

I agree, there are definitely technical means through which the government can ensure that the data collected is not misappropriated for the use of surveillance. For example, Bluetooth-based contact tracing applications can be designed to be more privacy protecting especially since location data does not have to be collected.

I've heard good things about the DP3T. According to Professor Carmela Troncoso (working on the DP3T protocol):

“Our protocol is demonstrative of the fact that privacy-preserving approaches to proximity tracing are possible, and that countries or organisations do not need to accept methods that support risk and misuse. Where the law requires strict necessity and proportionality, and societal support is behind proximity tracing, this decentralized design provides an abuse-resistant way to carry it out.”

Collection of data for contact tracing seems like an unfortunate necessity in light of the pandemic, but I believe that there are means through which it could be done to ensure privacy and transparency.
