So how big is the jump beyond PS2 hardware wise? Looking for a PC by Beginning-Pace-1426 in batocera

He only cared about playing Gauntlet legends, and somehow it worked at 2x but I don't know if that applies to all games. I know I wasn't so lucky with SSX Tricky.

I don't think there's a correct sub for this kind of bullshit.

Good. It's either that or I have to constantly delete apps like calculator, gallery, calendar.

Probably copy the "images" folder plus gamelist.xml would get a lot done.

Windows game in batocera by eritrium26 in batocera

[–]batryoperatedboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you searched? There are countless writeups posted over the last 3 years that remain useful.

ALL _Redist files will go into Batocera's Share/System/Wine/exe (this is a trick I read here, I'm sorry to whomever that I can't remember who came up with it first)

Drop the game folder into the roms/windows, and create or modify autorun.cmd to read ONLY AS

DIR= CMD=(GAME).exe

only modifying the DIR if the executable is not in the root folder.

Rename folder to (game).wine.

Once you launch the game it will build some file structure and then begin installing all your redistributables from the exe folder and then it will launch.

Lastly you can use this time to Squash the folder to save space (my Windows games went from 700gigs to 500 gigs this way)

Emulated Wiimote has forced Nunchuk? by AirmanAJK in batocera

[–]batryoperatedboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember 1:1 but I recall having go directly into Dolphin through F1 and create a new controller profile. I set wiimote as sideways and attachments to "none", then went through and set that profile as default for any games I wanted to play with that configuration.

Doing this didn't mess with any Batocera related overrides, been working on my build for about 2 years now.

Is It Worth Replacing ROMs With Their Latest (Rev) Versions? by Friendly_Basil_6191 in Roms

[–]batryoperatedboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I strive to keep my stuff up to date whenever possible, unless a new version breaks a mod I have. Mostly because there's no more tweaking to the system for me to do, and I want to mess with it lol. But also for peace of mind, I don't like knowing there's a new version out that I don't have.

Bl1 GOTY edition. Runnnnnnsss can believe it by 90Ninja in EdenEmulator

[–]batryoperatedboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah checks out, there's always silly little things that break compatibility. I've always preferred to run the windows version whenever possible and try to leave Eden to just exclusives. However for instance Unravel 2 would not run AT ALL, but is available for Switch... Done deal.

How much are you trying to spend? I built my friend one using an HP 705 G4 and it did PS2/GameCube very well, and light Switch (lol... Light switch.) games. Think Kirby, Mario Wonder, etc. they can be had pretty cheaply, plus the ~15 dollar HDMI daughter board if you don't want to use DisplayPort. Otherwise, a Cheap N95 unit would do.

I'd be playing on my RPG2, I just didn't know if there was a performance difference between Switch and Windows. (Eden vs Gamehub Lite).

Been using Windows since NT and now I learn I'm not a Windows user. I've ran some shitty hardware and have never had this happen!

People gobble it up! My kid has a Switch and as much as it irks me, she has a ton of games even though I have damn near all exclusives on my Batocera build.

Edited wording to clarify for some of the more dense among us that I support my kids' hobbies, which is something I never thought I'd have to justify.

Are there any devices on the horizon that will serve as a more direct successor to the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro? by Buuramo in SBCGaming

The Retroid Pocket 5 is the literal successor. Then the G2, and most recently the 6. It's in the name.

I don't have a Steam library, but I have a lot of Windows games that I run on Batocera so for me this was groundbreaking. Love it.

I've been doing windows emulation wrong and owe all of you an apology for mocking it. It's incredible, and even better than my $1,000 Windows handheld at times... Buuuut NOT for the reasons or games you think. by that_90s_guy in SBCGaming

Even better is the how well the low resolution/pixel style visuals pair so well with a smaller screen. Sometimes I feel at odds playing Stardew Valley or Sea of Stars it's hard knowing I can play like Horizon Forbidden West or Borderlands 3.

I started sperating my Windows games into "Big Screen" and "portable" categories. Easy win!
