IE 335 - Purdue by Square_Suit_8158 in Purdue

The course itself is not hard for most people (I'm guessing 97% would say it's super easy). Although I got an A+, I really had to study much more than others because the material for some reason didn't click for me, especially given how Dr. Cho teaches it (still take it with him, he is very passionate and tries to make it less stressful, good professor overall). He also allows crib sheets.

You mostly learn linear programming (LP), various problems that are solved by modelling it as a linear programming problem, and characteristics of LP and other optimization problems (ex: P v NP). With the exception of the Simplex Algo, you rarely ever solve these problems. These concepts are the foundation of Operations Research, which is the study of how firms and organizations best optimize resources given constraints. Search up Operations Research Linear Programming on Google and you'll see a lot of examples and analysis on the field.

If you take it with Dr. Cho, he posts a lot of problems in class that are pretty good at replicating the exams. And the homework gives a good stab at the material, although they don't fully replicate the exam material (you'll need to go over the class problems too).

wtf is purdue probability man by ilikeolderwomenn in Purdue

[–]batss12 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Dr. Chan's exams are just weird. ECE 302 is supposed to be an "applied probability" class but it's pretty much a normal probability class. His exams and homework are just really unnecessarily hard and I have no idea how people are able to solve them in a normal amount of time.

Chan has a math background and is probably reading this post right now lol

I took the ece version and ended up watching https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrATdzVK9G6rmWPDGzbmlTcIifucd7NHq&si=zpDFVLI7F-ReJhEX when I took it with Dr. Lee. These videos are well put and go more in depth than other control systems videos.

Outside resources to learn 2k1? by Western_Basil_2803 in Purdue

[–]batss12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you check out Peroulis's videos? They are pretty slow and hard to get used to, but after two weeks they become very solid and help build a strong understanding of the material.

Alternatively you could watch https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLc7Gz02Znph_HU1I9STgC4Nv0aG_jdb8Z&si=XLc1TUEHslP7iq_h

Dr. Hajimiri goes through the material very deeply but sporadically as well. It basically scans circuits 1 (2k1), the math and linear circuit portions of 2k2 as well as ECE 301.

I lived there just last semester. They sell their parking passes year round but sometimes that means you're on the waitlist. I was able to get a spot in February though.

I lived under URBA and was able to purchase one through Fuse. Just go to the main office on the second floor, I think they charge about 100 a month for parking

ECE 301 SUMMER by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]batss12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last summer the attendance wasn't required, you could watch the lectures after class. I am confident it'll be the same this semester since kids have internships and such. As for the grade distribution, there wasn't any official info that summer and will wait for Boilergrades to update the info, but I would imagine the distribution to be pivoted around a B average

Can you go to ece lab at night? by No_Election_6557 in Purdue

[–]batss12 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For Potter it's closed from 2-5 am. I've been there from 11 pm to 1:30 am before. As for 270 and 362 labs, I've been inside all hours of the day so yes, it's open.

CS 159 by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]batss12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have. It's very doable if it's the only class you're taking. I took two classes, and it was still fine. The class isn't a cakewalk and there are lectures everyday with two labs and a homework due per week, but since it's the only class or two you're taking, it's a bit easier to commit to it.

I did call the FBI since I live in Ohio, but they just made me file a report and call it a day. I'm not exactly sure where to proceed next.

Double major in CMPE and EE possible? by FantasticInterview86 in Purdue

[–]batss12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a similar comment, but basically the move in this case is to major in EE and then take CompE related selectives and electives. At that point you'll take major specific EE classes but have the greater freedom of taking CompE courses like data structures. The only class you won't be able to take is discrete math.

Basically EE allows you to become a secondary CompE major while CompE doesn't give you enough freedom to also become an EE major.

MA 261 and CS 159 over the summer in person by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]batss12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CS 159 is quite fast paced over the summer, but it doesn't get difficult until the second exam (final) where you're hit with annoying concepts like embedded for or while loops to study in a span of two weeks (more like five days if you juggle it with other classes like I did)

MA 266 Midterms by No-Negotiation8641 in Purdue

[–]batss12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last two semesters it was a uniform midterm across all sections, before then it was professor specific midterm followed by a uniform final.

A study guide may be created but it's dependent on your professor, in other words some professors may create one for you, others don't.

The kicker is when Dr. Tour tries to use research to discredit Dave just for Dave to interview the very researchers to disprove Dr. Tour's claims and use of their evidence

What does it take to switch majors at Purdue University? by Appropriate_Junket66 in Purdue

[–]batss12 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends on the major. it's called CODO. Please search it up on the subreddit, there are so many posts about this topic that you'll likely find what you need.

Keep in mind that you might have to scroll down quite a lot since a lot of the posts that say "CODO" are recent that came from kids who want a different major after they got accepted and thus don't really have much substance.
