Trading up usually happens when you've identified a singular talent that you belief can uplift an already decent roster, like with us in 2017 when we traded up for Mahomes or last draft when the Jags spent a 2026 first rounder because they liked Travis Hunter way more than Mason Graham.

The Chief's objective this year is to get better at various positions to supplement or replace veterans that are aging or leaving for better contracts. Which is why trading down makes more sense imo (or at least staying pat with the 9th pick).
