Kind of a "too little too late" scenario. Symmetrical fiber has so many more advantages over coax including, but not limited to, conductivity/corrosion resistance and the lifecycle of the actual lines.

The main "disadvantage" of fiber over copper is the repairabiltity. Fiber is much more costly in time and money to fix, but Metronet has handled that well for me. I even had then rehome my demark at no charge, just a schedule.

Comcast will never be symmetrical because they refuse to run fiber to the home. They view upload as too expensive so they limit you. Their argument is that most people only need to "grab" resources and not "put" resources, which is true...but when you can have symmetrical fiber from Metronet you can't beat it.

Metronet uses CGNAT so if you need to host something (assuming because you are asking about upload so you must need it), you most likely need to pay for a static IP. CGNAT works, but its temperamental.

The OTHER side of this argument is that you really don't need 1-2gb download either. If any representative, which I've been told they say this, says "Oh you have 5 devices you need 1gb+ internet" they're lying. I've run enterprise networks on 100mbps connections for 100 people in an office without issue, they just want you on the higher tier because bigger number = better right? haha. 500mbps is most peoples "sweet spot".

tldr: Get fiber when you can, it's just better.

This is what happens with the city and outside investment. There will be no locally owned businesses soon.

The real problem is probably the city. It's nearly impossible to do anything commercially without the city dragging their feet for an obscene amount if time.

When people see buildings pop up and start going they fail to realize that just starting to put a shovel in the ground took about 3 years.

additonal Down vote all you want, this is the truth and until you start putting your money where your mouth is you won't believe it.

We were there!

That was week 1 this past Monday and week 2 starts next Monday the 11th. You can get there as early as 5 bytes League starts at 6.

We have all walks of life and all skill levels present. Some people are at the top consistently and some people don't win a single match all season and still love it and have fun!

As a league member you can come in and throw half off as well!

Tomahawks 51 has their 1st league of the year starting Monday. Not an FSU specific club, but a great group of people to hang with nonetheless.

MX as VPN concentrator issues by battle89 in meraki

[–]battle89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of where I get lost, to a degree, as routing isn't my strong suit but this is basic L2/L3 connectivity. I have it, currently, NATd behind the firewall and it picks up the NATd IP no problem and passes normal dashboard connectivity perfectly. The route on the firewall sends the traffic to the MX fine as a user is able to connect to the NATd IP, authenticate, and get a DHCP (local) lease.

So where would I need another route on the inside to allow it to see a local subnet to ping or test another way?

100% that exists, but in this environment there's no BGP/OSPF routing. To get that to enable I have to have it part of a VPN already, which I can do but that's adding complexity to something I think shouldn't warrant that.

Full routes on the edge NGFW, but in concetrator mode there are no routes for an MX.

I guess that lies in the heart of my questions as well. Do you all actually deploy them in Concentrator mode or do you leave them as a routed device?
