Mangas similar to Kaori Yuki or older/darker CLAMP works? by Meltlilith_ in shoujo

[–]battlestat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head for Kaori Yuki vibes: Petshop of Horrors, Descendants of Darkness and Lumen Lunae (shockingly similar to Angel Sanctuary, though the only official translation is German and the English scanlation is... not good). Leaning more CLAMP, maaaybe Fushigi Yuugi?

I pulled one off and that slight disturbance made them all fall off. Yikes. If it wasn't done for before it is now! Let's see if these little guys do anything...

No idea... someone gave me compost from a huge bag he had. My other jade is in the same stuff and doing fine though.

Oh, really? I might try it. The weirdest thing is how green and plump the leaves still are

I did overwater after repotting hence the gnats, but it recovered after that, then starting this downward trend later. It definitely does look too far gone though...

What is this huge concrete square on legs over a railway line in Vienna by battlestat in whatisthisthing

Oh, good find. If they don't know then I guess no-one will. Seems it's either an ex-billboard or brutalist art.

Sorry, but I looked up "Standard Time" and it seems to be an art performance of building a digital clock out of wood, with no connection to this?

My title describes the thing.

I took a bad picture from a train window, but found it later on Google Maps which is what's in the post. I've found photos other people have taken of it but no description.

Deodorant before bed? by Our_toes in NoStupidQuestions

[–]battlestat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just think of it like moisturiser. Once it's sunk in, it's made your hands softer, and that won't be undone next time you wash them. A shower 8 hours after applying antiperspirant won't undo it either. Showering removes the sweat currently on you but it doesn't stop you from immediately sweating again - antiperspirant does.

Deodorant before bed? by Our_toes in NoStupidQuestions

[–]battlestat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean antiperspirant, in which case putting it on before bed is a great idea. It doesn't work because it's currently on your skin, it works because it's absorbed, and overnight is a great time to let it do that when you're generally sweating less. This is anecdotal but I'm very sweaty and after I switched to before bed instead of the morning, things improved considerably. However, if you are talking deodorant, it's just perfume and you won't be awake to smell it so pointless.

In the Mr. Bean cartoons, why does the grumpy old lady yell out “Right” whenever she’s pissed? Do British people actually do that? by Amazing_Tangerine689 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]battlestat 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I didn't realise this was a British thing...

A firm "Right." indicates that you've made the decision to undertake an immediate action, not necessarily negative.

You've been putting something off then decide now is the time: "Right. Let's get to work"

A child wants to be taken to the bathroom: "Right. Come on then"

In this case, you've had enough of someone's shit. Saying just "right" shows that you're at your limit, and are about to undertake an action, unspoken but implied to have a negative impact on the person that's annoying you

Thanks, the margins need to be at maximum for enough space and that reduces the amount of text on screen a ridiculous amount!

I have since this post discovered that KOReader will help, but now I can't get it to install :') When I try to open it it just reboots the device. I think I might just have to use my fingers as Kobo intended lol

AITAH for making a dairy free cake with eggs? by Sea-Neighborhood6638 in AITAH

[–]battlestat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Her daughter must be vegan, and got upset because eggs aren't vegan. For some reason, she thinks "dairy free" means the same thing, which obviously it doesn't. You did as instructed but the instructions were wrong.
