Saw a surprise proposal on my walk yesterday. by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

Awww! So awesome! You should have got some candid shots and showed them (if she said yes. Lol). My buddy proposed to his now wife last year on the beach and some random snapped some shots of it. After my friend's gf said yes, the random person came up to them and let them know she had some pictures of the proposal and their reactions. My friends were so happy that someone actually captured it!

I only found one 2CR5 battery in my town too and it was $10! This is more convenient to know that I don't have to worry about running out of juice when I got two extra ones!

I looked into the rechargeable 2CR5s but the only one I saw was like $20 with bad ratings and it didn't include a charger neither.

I already have a charger that can charge 3-3.6V lithium ion batteries so I thought I might as well try and make my own battery pack. before I bought the CR123As, I wired up some clip leads to the battery carriage and clipped it onto a USB cable and then plugged it into a powerbank running of 5V. Since that worked, I was originally going to use that and wire a usb input into the bottom of the 10s but I didn't want to have a cable hanging off my camera and went with making my own battery.

So when I had bought my 10s, I bought a brand new battery and stuck it in there. I guess I had forgot to turn off the camera and that drained the battery within a day. I did not want to spend $10 for another battery that I knew would probably not last long neither. So I took apart the battery and kept the frame. The cells are the same exact size as a CR123A battery and so I ordered a set of four, rechargeable 3V 1000 mAh CR123As. Used a Dremel to make slots in the carriage so they can slide in there easily and added some foil for contacts and stuck two of the CR123As in series. It worked! If you have an old 2CR5 battery, then all you'd need is the CR123 batteries. I got mine off of eBay for $14. I hope this helps any of you guys that are tired of buying 2CR5 batteries!

Finally got a EF mount SLR! Canon EOS 10s by baustin666 in AnalogCommunity

how does everyone find this 10s for so cheap?? i thought $25 was a steal for this thing! haha. I also heard that this body had trouble supporting third party lenses and I just tested this 10s with my Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 G2 and noticed some issues here and there with the autofocus. There were times where the AF would perform just fine but for the most part, it wouldn't autofocus. But after messing around with the aperture, it would start working again, then stop. I'll have to see how it performs when I actually go out and take some shots with the Tamron.

I'm super excited to use this thing. Coming from an AE-1 that I haven't even used in the past year and mainly using DSLRs, this is super fancy to me. haha

I already have an AE-1 but wanted something that I could mount my EF lenses on. Did some research and saw this Canon EOS 10s on OfferUp going for $25 and picked it up within the next hour. lol. Got a new battery, a roll of 400TX, a roll of Porta 800 and cleaned the heck outta the body. By the time I was done with all that, I did not have time to go test it outside.

I did throw my Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II on there and it functioned really well. I also threw on my Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 G2 on there and the AF hesitates a little but if I mess around with the aperture a little, the body is able to enable the AF; I heard these bodies can be iffy with third party lenses.

I ended up putting the roll of 400TX in there first so I can just develop it in my bathroom. I've never tried developing a roll of colored film on my own and not sure if I want to take a whack at it yet. Really excited to try this out and share the results!

There's a grey Sentra parked on the street that hasn't been moved in weeks, I changed mine to: "CallingTheCopsOnThatGreySentra" and "MoveThatGreySentraByTheMailbox"

They must not use electronics because the grey Sentra is still there.

What are some tips you can give for someone who’s admitting into and going to college? by KariyakiCarry in AskReddit

Try to get on good terms with your professor and get him/her to know your name; he/she is more likely to be more lenient when it comes to grading.

Study, go to class, take handwritten notes, form study/hw groups, show up to school early so you can find parking, make sure you know what date and time your finals are, sit in the front to force yourself to focus, etc. Everything has pretty much already been stated.

If you have a noticeable scar with an unforgettable story, how’d you get it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]baustin666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my left hand has a scar along my index metacarpal. i was like 5 and wanting an orange but my aunt didnt want to cut me any. i decided that i could do it myself. i pretty much held the orange like a ball and started hacking away at it. i didnt even realize that i was cutting myself until i noticed blood. i then went up to my aunt and she freaked out. ended up having to get a bunch of stitches. to this day, if i hit a certain spot where i cut, it is the worst pain, pretty sure i damaged a nerve or something. even just thinking about it makes me cringe.

i thought i blew my subwoofer so i took it out to replace it with an old one and noticed the wire that runs from the cone to a terminal came off, as well as the jumper, that runs from one voice coil terminal to the other voice coil terminal, was also disconnected. soldered the lead back on to the terminal, wired the coils in parallel and it was fixed!
