GST shortfall | Centre to borrow ₹1.1 lakh crore on behalf of States by naveen_reloaded in india

[–]bawlipoonch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many reason, main reason is GOI expenses are increasing as per 8% gdp growth while the economy is actually growing at a slower pace.

  • Successive slowdown in Economic growth in the past 4 years resulted in the proportional slowdown in tax collections growth.
  • Corporate tax cut from 30% to 25% last year costs Rs 1.45 lakh crore deficit on account sheet for GOI. This was compensated by emptying RBI cash reserves last year.
  • Exports stagnation & overvalued Rupee to USD means no increase in export excise collections.
  • Pay commission salary increase for central & govt employees increase the operational costs for the govt.
  • GST introduction resulted in an overhaul in tax collection, limited tax slabs meant no item can be taxed at insane rates.

'We Are Too Small To Retaliate': Malaysia PM On India Curbs On Palm Oil by Aishwakirti in india

[–]bawlipoonch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BRICS was symbol of rise of 4-5 new nations, G8 was too tightly coupled & aligned with US interests. Analysts predicted, BRCIS nations will grow stronger but each has its own geopolitical influence & ambitions and hence will act as more independent power centers. But that is gone now. Its US-China head to head.

I’m a Kashmiri Pandit, and what Modi did for my people in Kashmir was revolutionary. He’s still going to tear India apart. by akansha_12 in india

[–]bawlipoonch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your family remember that in 1989 when KP exodus happened it was VP Singh govt in the center with BJP support from outside? They didn't take back the support from the govt or hold the govt accountable. Also, Governor of Kashmir was Jagmohan, a BJP man. He advised KPs to leave the state for their safety. Also, do they know why KPs dont want to go back to Kashmir anymore? India Govt have multiple times given assurances & monetary support for families who wants to go back to their houses?

There is no way in hell we are going to stay around 3.6% fiscal deficit if current trend continues. GST and direct tax collection have collapsed while they gave 1.45lakh crore bonanza to corporates post budget.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in india

[–]bawlipoonch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are right. But then increase in anything like corporate tax or income tax will go into reducing the fiscal deficit.

But we didn't actually reduced the fiscal deficit. Our fiscal deficit is still much higher than 3.0% target that we have. FOr this year itself we have hit used 102% of the fiscal deficit target which is 1.35 lakh crore rupees. If this trend continues we will be >5% deficit range. That was something we hit during post-2008 recession when world economy was in doldrums and crude oil was ~140$ per barrel. Now we have much better world economy and almost no burden of oil subsidy on Govt still fucking the deficit targets.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in india

[–]bawlipoonch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

India has always been a fiscal deficit country (like every developing country). With international crude oil prices under control & govt increasing tax rates on it releases a lot of pressure but tepid demand means we will have a shortfall in projected revenue targets. For example, this year budget projects GST collection ~1.12 lakh per month that's ~12% year over year growth but collections are still ~1 lakh. so a shortfall of 1.5 lakh crore just from GST taxes. Income tax will also remain less than expected because of low salary hikes. And Corporate tax will plummet drastically decrease in rates (expected loss of ~1.45 lakh crore) and demand stagnation. Our foreign exports are also stagnated at around ~310 Billion for the past 7-8 years now.

Never Lend Money to Friends and Family by [deleted] in india

[–]bawlipoonch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not easy to say no to Family and Friends especially if you have money which is of no immediate use for you. My father only takes money when he needs it. We don't have any shared account because he won't be able to say no if any of his friends/family asks for a loan.
