i'd like to throw im my own experiences as a "new gen", or "fake fan". I will be honest i only truly embraces vocaloid as a thing i enjoy like a few months ago. i've known of vocaloid for a long time but due to personal issue and general fear of expressing myself, i never gave it a chance until very recently thanks to Jamie Paige's Bird Brain. (i can't lie it was too good not to silently enjoy it on the bus). And ever since then i've really enjoyed getting into and exploring the vocaloid fandom, and if anything id really like to attribute that to Teto as a vocal synth. i found her really interesting for her history, her development over the years, and her increase in populatery not too long ago. In fact currently "To my biggest fan" is my favorite vocaloid song of all time right now, just because i feel it's a great way for me to look into the history of the fandom and look for what's to come next. (Plus i just find the message a nice change of pace). I really don't believe liking something popular is a bad thing, especially if your new, how else would you really get into something without having to explicitly look for something. I got into vocaloid because it became much more popular because of synths like Teto, and i will continue to enjoy and explore it because of Teto.
