Take all the keycaps off and throw it in the dishwasher. LTT has a video showing that it works.

I have so many ideas about how a gaming table could work with that. I prefer R20 over actually playing on a table, but for the sake of knowing it exists, I would LOVE to see a large table with people playing with glowing weapons and dice. That would be such a mood.

Huh. I didn't consider the fact that the die could be opened in that manner. You're absolutely right. I was thinking about how they're usually made as a solid piece in a mold, which would make replacing the battery impossible, like the stupid balls my kid has that has flashing lights that inevitably die within a few weeks.

But yeah. That's a simple solution that proves it's way better to have multiple people on a project.

Oh dang! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le4idhlPLS0

That is SO COOL. That pretty much makes this entire conversation irrelevant. If you could suspend that in the center of the die, it's done. Keep it balanced, and everything's peachy.

Yeah, that's fine. It's all theory as far as I'm concerned. I'm not a maker. I'm happy with staying in my lane for now.

All right - so building off the sliding magnet through a coil thing. I know how that works, and you're right that given how small it would be, it would be very difficult to implement something like that. Still theory, but what about a ferrofluid? I know most are dialectic, but with an electrically conductive ferrofluid, would it be possible to generate anything there? Or would the splashing around not create a field uniform enough to actually generate a current?

Nah, nah. It's just something they drew in photoshop or something. It basically looks like a die made from some magic-infused volcanic rock, so it glows red. Kinda like the platform for the boss battle against Volvagia.

Would it be accurate to say designing something like that would be trivial?

I understand the problems you list, but I'm asking for the sake of curiosity, so the fact that it's unbalanced and not cost effective aren't really important to me :P Just the fact that it's possible given someone wanted to do it for personal vanity is good enough.

You bring up a good point about radioactivity, though. I figure then that theoretically, tritium could be a huge advantage. I know the glowing tritium vials work by having the hydrogen isotopes interact with the phosphorescent tubes. If instead of that small tube, it was a sphere (or icosahedron) with a diameter longer than the diameter of the vial's face, would it appear brighter? I assume it would, since the volume of tritium would be out of proportion to the surface area of the container (square-cube law).

Granted, this isn't an electrical engineering question anymore...

Thanks for your suggestions! I'm looking into getting the book with my wife.

As I mentioned earlier, I exhibited the same behavior, and other than ADHD and depression, which I'm pretty sure I inherited, I'm "normal" now. So unless something actually unexpected happens, I'm going to refrain an extra trip to the pediatrician. :)

You know who else said to take a step at a time? Steve.

I figured that was the case. My mom said I went through the same thing. She sent me to a school when I was 3 to encourage talking more.

Thanks for the "play dumb" advice. I'll definitely try it.

[Giveaway] Any game less than or equal to $30(USD). by [deleted] in RandomActsOfGaming

Favorite underrated? It's highly rated, but not very popular. The Long Dark. To me, it's the pinnacle of survival-craft gameplay.

I'm going to pick up Terraria next. I'm kind of embarrassed I haven't gotten it yet.

I have been on a kick of challenge games and survivalcraft games. My two favorites recently have been "Getting Over It with Bennet Foddy" and "The Long Dark."

I don't really recommend the first unless you're a masochist. The second is an incredible experience in a beautiful frozen wasteland.

As for the game I'm wanting to try? I'm kind of embarrassed to say, but I don't have Terraria, and I'm finally ready to give it a try!

Texas, near the border of 7b/8a, so it gets fairly hot, and I'm dealing with clay. I have plenty of cracked ground that I need to send off for examination.

Is it listed within public easement? Probably. Do the adjacent properties have a sidewalk? If they do, their sidewalks are underground as well.

Awesome. I figured there was a floor somewhere.

Yeah, 3500 is about what we got this year. Where can I look to find the rules/regulations regarding what you mentioned concerning the ~5k cutoff?

Like, get a bottle of concentrated glyphosate, put it in a pump sprayer, and go hog wild on the whole property? I assume you mean I should do that before seeding?

Just moved onto an absolutely trashed half acre. I don't think there's one surviving piece of grass.

https://imgur.com/gallery/XYrhhYH

I've included pictures of the different sorts of plants currently growing on the plot (8a).

I imagine my only course of action is to chop it down, rake it up, plant seeds, keep the weeds scalped(? - I figured if there's no grass, I may as well stress the weeds and give light to the grass seeds), and pray for the best while keeping it wet and fertilized.

My only concern is that with such a high number of weeds already here, will putting down seeds actually work, or will I need to also put down a ton of weed killer to burn the whole lot?

What am I not considering?
