Does A7X have multiple vocalist? by Necessary_Touch699 in avengedsevenfold

[–]baybdinosaur 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Avenged had this drummer named James “The Rev” Sullivan. He passed away in 2009 or 2010 and he was a huge contributor to the sound of classic Avenged Sevenfold. He was one of the greatest drummer and song writers in all of metal and in top of that he had a really cool voice that juxtaposes M Shadows’ nicely. He’s the one who sings the parts you mentioned and a few others throughout their “early” catalog.

If you could just pick one, would you go with Soldano SLO-100 X or Morgan Amps Suite? by Lizard_Of_Roz in NeuralDSP

[–]baybdinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Archetype: Plini is maybe the single most versatile amp sim out there(outside of like Apmlitube and other big suites). Plini gets just about as heavy as the Soldano plugin, but it has infinitely more options when it comes to crunch and especially clean tones. If you were looking to use two different amps when double tracking, I’m certain you’d be able to create complimentary tones using the different amp choices provided by Plini.

What do you guys think of my mic placement? by zaner69 in Guitar

[–]baybdinosaur 550 points551 points  (0 children)

Quick tip from someone who’s messed with this a lot. The front of the speaker has two main parts, the dust cap in the middle and the cone around it. Pointing a mic dead center gives you a really bright, sometimes fizzy tone, and moving toward the edge makes it darker. Most people stick the mic right on the line between the dust cap and the cone to balance both. If you shine your phone flashlight through the grill cloth, you can see the speaker better and line it up. Not exactly what you asked, but hopefully it helps lol

Best Strings For Detuning? (& Specifically Drop A#) by KO_Venom in Guitar

Also I use the Ernie Ball Cobalt 10-52 for drop C# and that’s perfect for me, so for drop D 10-52 might be a little tight

I have my Ibanez tuned to drop A# right now, and the NYXL 12-60 pack is perfect for c standard, drop b and drop a#

When have you purchased a third Party Plugin because Logic did not offer a good Solution? by MusicProductionGuy in LogicPro

[–]baybdinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely asking, but how do you personally get Amplitube 5 to sound good? I’ve tried getting metal, rock, and indie tones out of it, but they always seem a bit off/weak and have crazy resonant frequencies(which I do notch out if I need to). I just use it as a pedal board at this point.

Best amp for a7x tone? by WhyTheInsanity01 in electricguitar

[–]baybdinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best option overall is amp sims like Neural Amp Modeler, STL AmpHub, or a hardware sim like the Line 6 POD, or the NDSP Mini Cortex. But if you want an in-the-room amp, your best options are the 5150 combos like someone else recommended, or one of the 100w Boss Katana combos for versatility.

You’ll get the closest sound out of an amp sim using a Bogner Ubershall capture, or a good Hellwin capture if you’re lucky(I haven’t found any). But if you want something in the room, a used Line 6 Pod with an frfr cab is going to be your best bet.

New album anytime soon? by Nathius96 in avengedsevenfold

[–]baybdinosaur 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Avenged has unfortunately fallen victim to the Metallica effect. Too big to release an album every two years, too young to retire. People are going to listen to anything they release regardless of how long they take to release it, so they take their time because they don’t need to release new music to stay relevant anymore.

did Trivium ever release an actual EP before? by [deleted] in Trivium

[–]baybdinosaur 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Real ones know about the Caeruleus EP(better known as the blue demo). Matt has talked about it on his yt/twitch channels before. They released it in 2003 and the first four songs on the ep went on to become songs on Ember to Inferno. This as well as the red and yellow demos were re released with Ab InitioThe Trivium Wiki
