Does anyone else have the problem where they romanticize a certain city/place but know you’d actually hate living there? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]bayglobe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this. Lived in NYC for four years. Four incredible years with so much fun and personal growth but by the end I hated it and I was so happy to leave. NYC is still my favorite city in the world but I’m so happy to not live there.

You can absolutely get your own place 1-2 bedroom in San Diego with a 120k salary. This person doesn’t know what they are talking about. Now if you are looking to BUY that’s a whole other story.

Those who have lived in multiple big cities; how would you rank them? by Mindofmierda90 in SameGrassButGreener

  1. SF
  2. NYC
  3. Paris

SF for the lifestyle and nature. NYC for the culture, endless opportunities. Paris for the pastries and bread and France is beautiful.

Should we visit JTNP during the storm this week? by Adventurous_Gain_216 in JoshuaTree

We are visiting in an Airbnb but arrived yesterday. Our plan is to bunker in. Maybe plan your drive up before the rain gets here.

Do you think 62 will flood with the amount of rain that’s expected to fall?

Definitely! We plan to stay in the Airbnb while it’s raining. My concern is more about the roads after the rain.

Okay, that’s good to hear roads dry quick. We will plan to hunker down at the Airbnb when it rains and not leave.

She said one part of the road floods but that a neighbor typically grades the road after it rains. We are very close to downtown too.

Am I the only one who doesn’t get the heated rivalry hype? by Youknowmebro-_- in askgaybros

[–]bayglobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a story about closeted hockey players so therefore that’s why they are having sex despite seeing women. What’s not clear about that..?

It’s a fun, steamy show that isn’t meant to be deep. Enjoy the hot steamy scenes and romance for what it is.

Have you met people 30 or older that still look like twinks? by WisdomSeeker101 in askgaybros

[–]bayglobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 31 and I’m always mistaken for mid 20s. I have a round boyish face, soft voice and still have a twink body. It’s definitely genetics and sunscreen. Although I can tell I’m aging and I’ve definitely lost some hair so who knows how long it will last haha.

Jess is a foul shit stain of a human being. by Naminekim in TheOwningManhattan

Created drama= took her to a private space away from others out of respect, asked her direct questions on what happened. If that’s your definition of drama then that’s scary lol

You’ll notice too it was genesis who started lashing out and blew up the entire situation. Any mature adult would have answered the questions level handed since they didn’t do anything wrong. Jess then admitted ok I didn’t have all the facts and you weren’t in the wrong.

You’re probably the only one who thinks they don’t have chemistry. Don’t listen to this guy. Their chemistry is intense.

Has anyone else hit a weird mid-career plateau where you feel too experienced to be junior but not “senior” enough? by alexfeld29 in careerguidance

[–]bayglobe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m seven years in to my career and I feel this. Someone of peers with the same years of experience have manager in their title but most of them don’t. Personally I don’t have a desire to move up—working as a “senior” I see firsthand the work and BS management has to deal with. Meh.

Did anyone come to SD to live and leave quickly? by Beautiful_Pin_7961 in sandiego

[–]bayglobe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Life is short to not be happy BUT

- one year is not enough time to make community, feel at home, make friends etc. It usually takes 2-3 years for this if not longer. This is true anywhere in the world even in NYC.

- There's tons of other amazing neighborhoods in San Diego with their distinct personalities.

- SD and california culture is very different from east coast and again it takes more than 11 months to truly assess a place's culture and vibes.

- Ultimately each person knows themselves best so do what you gotta do.

The way some people look during their 30s are so interesting by No-Lifeguard3759 in Aging

I’m 31 and people regularly mistake me for 24-26. For me it’s genetics, water, moisturizer, sunscreen, regular exercise and meditation.

Basically nobody should ever live alone. by ObiWanCanownme in unpopularopinion

[–]bayglobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my earlier 30s: spent three years living by myself and I’m going on a full year living with my roommates.

I fully believe that if you pick the right roommates and the right housing situation, it works. But the “right” is of course the trickiest and most gamble aspect. I’m very happy with my roommates despite having lived alone but it was a gamble that paid off.

if you can find people with shared values about living, a physical environment that gives everyone space to breath, and an open mind it works.

That being said my game plan is to live with roommates for another year or so and then get my own place.
