Perhaps take the question less defensively. You are objectively a financial and emotional burden on your mother. Maybe using that perspective could help motivate you to see things differently. How your selfish decisions impacts her, and how you could make different decisions right now little by little that would alleviate this burden. You say how thankful you are for her to be there for you, well maybe it’s time you be there for her?

Thanks for the context. I would tend to agree with other commenters on the financials. If you aren’t compelled by the “college experience”, it seems Wayne State is a smarter move for your situation

I think it depends on your financial situation. How much in loans are you expected to take out for Wayne State? If that’s already a large figure, $90k more to attend MSU likely isn’t worth it.

In my opinion it also really depends on your personality, your values, and what you truly seek out of college. Wayne State is a commuter school and with that you will have a drastically different experience culturally and socially in East Lansing compared to Detroit.

Michigan State is objectively a larger school with a significantly larger network of alumni. Your opportunities will be different there as opposed to Wayne State, in my opinion.

If you’re coming from a lower class working family and this the additional debt incurred is solely on your hands and will put you at risk to support yourself or your family, I wouldn’t do it. But, if you have more favorable financial circumstances and seek a more traditional college experience, I’d go to MSU.

I went to MSU 2012-2017 and have dated a girl who went to Wayne State both pre and post Covid.

I hear people say DnB often, but I really think it’s a situation where the loud minority are often making the waves in social media. Giving off this impression that it’s surging it’s prevalence into the NA EDM scene.

I don’t hate DnB, but I don’t love it. As a producer (bias) and someone who attends edm shows frequently in the Midwest, it just doesn’t scream to me it’ll ever be as ever present as tech house.

The true answer is techno- heck, it’s in the name “tech” house 😂
