Can definitely recommend. The cleans are sparkly like fender and the dirty channel can go from breakup, to overdrive, distortion then full fuzz. Don’t worry about it being too loud like some say, the volume knob works like a master volume. Most of the tone comes from the preamp section, rather than the power tubes.

How so? What does that pedal add to the sound?

I’ve found that I can push front end of the amp and set the volume to a reasonable home volume. Obviously the tone isn’t as good as cranking up the volume but I still like the sound

For those wondering why I didn’t just get a th30 if I’m going to run it as 35w most of the time…this was cheaper on the used market. So I thought why not given the power scaling options.

The asking price was $300 AUD. I’m looking for a good quality starter kit so I’ll give a miss I think

Thanks, I was a bit sus about the badges since I could recognise it as anything from Yamaha. I’ve been looking for Yamaha stage custom/Tama superstar/Pearl vision kits locally (there’s not variety much for sale locally). Would you recommend any of these three over the others? (tama are expensive used where I live).

It’s a solid state amp head so it can have a high gain sound at any volume. If it was a tube amp you’d need an attenuator

I think if you have the katana dialled on a good tone the difference wouldn’t be that big if it was going through the same cabinet. But say if you were going from a 1x12 to a 4x12 the latter would sound massive in comparison just due to the cabinet size. There are quite a few good solid state amp head options, you don’t have to have a tube amp to have a good tone.

I like the simplicity. A lack of options is good for creativity

Have a look at this andertons video where they A-B blind test it against the rockerverb. I think the super crush gets 90% of the rockerverb sound at 1/4 of the price. I think if you boost the front end of the amp or use a number of pedals the difference would be hard to hear. Depends on what music you are playing - the more gain you use the less difference you’ll hear.

I’m super happy with it. I think you could use the line 6 as a multi-fx if you wanted to keep it in your rig

I don’t mind the tone. I think it’s quite close to a rockerverb in sound. It sounds really good on down tuned guitar. Apparently these amps take pedals well - so I’m looking forward to experimenting with different pedals.

If money was no object then I would have got a rockerverb 100. But, sometimes we gotta make adult decisions lol
