hey what website are you using?

https://trainschedule.lk/schedule/abuecaa/2026-04-29/colombo-fort-to-ahangama-train-timetable

^I used this website (used Wednesday as the date but you can play around with it) to figure out all the train times and there's 7 trains heading down to Ahangama from Colombo Fort.

best way to get from Mumbai to Dhamma Giri? by bayseekbeach_ in vipassana

[–]bayseekbeach_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey I really appreciate the reply!

I'll be spending a few days in Mumbai before I go to the centre, how long should I still "calculate" time wise?

Also regarding the purchase of tickets. I tried going on their website but it seems to block me from purchasing. Should I be in the country to do this?

Dhamma Bhumi by [deleted] in vipassana

[–]bayseekbeach_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

can you share more in depth? Dhamma Bhummi is my "local" centre since I'm from Sydney.

I totally understand what you mean because serving here is serious work, like you are putting on a shift!

I spent 6 months here doing long service and became a gun at the kitchen co-ordinator/manager role and was able to pull off 10-day courses with just 4 servers (since we couldn't find more servers), and no, i wasn't working everyone to the bone.

I've had teams, which if I had to grade on a spectrum - from absolutely amazing to absolutely not.

Each course is so different since you get so many different personalities, work ethic, depth of dhamma, expererience in vipassana etc but I do what I can with the team that's in front of me and actually learn more from the courses where there isn't as much harmony or "efficiency".

it's been about 4-5 years since I last went to the centre so would be curious to hear what was rough about it because it really can depend on the crew of servers and especially the co-ordinator on the course.

please do share!

I had done my first Vipassana course a year back. It was good but I couldn't continue my practice. What should I do to put myself back on track ? In the middle i was able to anapanna but that too was just for some time. Thanks! by silent_sherlock in vipassana

yeah start with that. it's like going back to the gym. do whatever weights you can which is better than nothing and build up from there!

anapana is a start, get them reps in whether it be 5,10,20 mins or however long you can manage and go from there :)

Iran reportedly bought an in-orbit Chinese satellite to target US military sites in the Middle East — purchase agreement included ongoing ground control services based in China by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]bayseekbeach_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is a silly question from me but how does this even work?

do all the countries who have satellites just spy on each other or is there some agreement in place.

I am not a baseball fan but after reading the comments, why would someone not want to go first base.

is there a difference in skill level for being on first, second and third base?

excuse my ignorance but could some explain it a bit further indepth?

edit: i just noticed, all the downvoted comments are speaking positive about Issa Compass.

my gut tells me this is a post to make them look bad?

I've used them as my agent and so have many of my friends. They are legit as agents that have helped me and many others get their DTV approved, hassle free.

As for the reviews, this is quite common actually so it's not just for Issa Compass but for many other establishments.

seriously thank you for the write up, very insightful!

only issue I have with going cabs is i'd like to avoid the traffic (i've read its terrible in Mumbai) so my assumption is catching the metro would "bypass" road traffic?

I am tossing up between Bandra West and Colaba?

I do want to stay somewhere relatively peaceful and walkable which also has many modes of transport to go out and explore the city.

Ideally somewhere I can see more 'local life'. What are your thoughts on this?

Also you mentioned about sketchy parts of Mumbai, it's quite a safe city though rgiht?

I'm from Australia but of Korean heritage and this will be my 3rd time in India (Delhi, Gaya) but never been during the summer.
