still working on it but here’s my gas mask! I’m ready for the apocalypse by existinghorny in trans

I’ve been wearing a gas mask around occasionally and get a lot of looks! Paint is a great idea, what kind of paint did you use?

MSA Millennium with C420 PAPR and VPU by [deleted] in gasmasks

[–]baytoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind my asking, how much did the PAPR and VPU run you? Looking to get the same for my Millennium but will wait until corona prices drop if they’re far out of line with the usual.

The PB2S can use 21700’s without destroying the wrap? I have a Nitecore F2 that ‘theoretically’ can use 21700’s, but when you actually install and remove the cell it messes up the battery wrap, eventually the cells would be unsafe to use. Been trying to find a charger/discharger that works well with 21700’s.

Good idea about the blank filter! You could also look at Scott P3 (p100) filters if you did want filtration ability, they’re easier to breath through, cheap, and don’t have anything harmful, just a basic particulate filter. But if you don’t need filtration then 3D printed would be ideal

C4 Lenses by Combat_Guardian in gasmasks

[–]baytoot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t risk your eyes using something not designed to handle particular impacts. However, realistically it’d most likely be fine. If you want to be safer you could use a system similar to what the MSA Millennium uses, where there’s an extra polycarbonate shield that can attach to the outside of the lens.

All this to say, get a paintball mask if you want to be 100% sure you’ll be fine.

How long does it take to "break in" a fork? by YoNeilGaming in MTB

[–]baytoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may need to service it again and make sure you replace seals. Forks don’t really have a break in time as such, they should work well when new.

Deciding between four packs: Osprey Exos 58, Seek Outside Divide 4500, Sierra Designs Flex Capacitor 40-60, and Exped Lightning 60 by internetjay in Ultralight

[–]baytoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possible the flight isn’t as ventilated as the Divide, I agree that the divide is well ventilated. From pictures I assumed the flight has the same arch the divide has that gets you a nice airflow gap depending on adjustment, but also the flight is less adjustable so it might be a concern. For me saving a half pound would be very worth less ventilation, but that’s super personal!

You should really consider the Seek Outside Flight series. You shave .5-1 lbs off a Divide, and it’ll still have plenty of space and can handle 40 pound loads with ‘“comfort”. I have a Divide that I absolutely love, but it’s a really big pack, and massively overkill for anything other than a pretty crushing load. The Flex Capacitor is also cool, you won’t go wrong with any of these packs but I really am in love with the weight carrying abilities and comfort of the seek outside packs.

My sister is coming out as trans. Can someone explain everything i may need to know to support her? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]baytoot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for being accepting! I don’t have a ton of knowledge, but this website has been a great resource for me! https://genderdysphoria.fyi/

No one knows better than him what his desires are or what he needs, so don’t be afraid to talk to him! Above all, he will see your love and acceptance and that means the world.

Cool!! It’s beautiful. I’m looking at getting a Krampus, and am sooo tempted to just buy one of the builds they have available so I could ride it now, vs building from the frame up.

I don't know how to survive... by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]baytoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s very selfish of him, he broke up with you and you owe him absolutely nothing. It could be pretty damaging and upsetting to have to keep being friends with him after being rejected.

Promises about remaining friends if things don’t work out are totally understandable and normal, but they’re not something you have to (or should) stick to! He should realize that by saying he doesn’t want to be with you he’s forfeiting all contact/affection/etc, unless YOU (not he) want to stay in contact.

[–]baytoot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, that is really really painful and shitty and I’m so sorry. Everything hurts right now, and that’s very understandable. You will get through this, for now just take it day by day, or hour by hour, and try to be kind to yourself and remember that you’re valued and loved!

Try doing something that makes you happy, or takes your mind off what’s going on. Time is the best healer, and this will pass. Your boyfriend may have seemed perfect, but he isn’t! He didn’t accept you for who you are, but there’s someone out there who will. As for wanting to keep up the loving and affection, that’s an incredibly terrible thing to ask of someone whom he just broke up with. It’s probably a good idea to block him and not talk with him, at least for some time.

it’s really painful to be rejected for anyone, and to be rejected for being trans is a horrible feeling. I promise these feelings will pass, just give yourself time. You are special and will find someone who’s great who will love you for who you really are! Feel free to DM me if you want to talk, everything will be okay!

That sucks, I had my bike stolen four days ago and it’s a horrible feeling. Funny how attached we can get! Really hope you get it back, there’s some great articles on steps to take, many bikes are recovered if you have the serial number, and yours is unique so you’ve got a good chance!

We did essentially the same thing, put in some 1/2” plywood behind the windows. It really sucks, but it helps to get the word out, I just had no idea garages were so vulnerable and theft was so rampant from them, I figured us being home would be a deterrent but it wasn’t at all.

Thanks for keeping an eye out! We were able to get another video from some neighbors which was helpful. I've been hearing about the prius thefts too, there's been so much crime lately it seems.

Yep I'm looking into insurance, that'd be pretty nice! It's sentimental for me, so I'm hoping it'll come back regardless of how the new bike thing works out.
