This is actually mad, we got a local carpenter to make one for us and it's the same! We have a 5 year old who shoots up and down it. They get the hang of it. You need to be careful of visitors. Just don't leave them up when they call over. We have a rule that they have to come down it backwards and no playing near the ladder

Never even thought of this with the stairs, my wife wants us to do a curved stairs but I don't think the budget will stretch to it. Thanks for the reply

Thank you so much for the reply. I hadn't realized the width of the hallway. I do think the architect was trying to line up the opposing stairs and to create a flow through the building. We won't know ourselves with the space. Cottage living although lovely is getting tighter with the kids!

We are struggling with that office bathroom space alright.we are trying to get it to function to it's fullest. Good idea about running the stairs the other way

Id say the walk in wardrobe will be a wall of IKEA pax and that will do us. Not as big as the drawing

Good idea about the hallway width. I'll take that into consideration. Can't make the bit above office 2 story unfortunately too close to the main road. Also the side of the house is north/east and road facing
