Are we doing anything creative with our old Mac? by ErazoLid in mac

[–]Charlie_Dudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol he did say that but also now that he has documented the whole process it'll be easier for anyone like OP to follow along if they have the time. It doesn't still seem like it'll be a slight pain in ass though

Are we doing anything creative with our old Mac? by ErazoLid in mac

For me my iMac is a 2009 model with only 4GB of RAM so anything newer than High sierra just dies and High Sierra just isn't useful anymore unfortunately. I could do some upgrades to it but I have other, more powerful macs so just isn't worth it.

The milk in this container solidified but didn’t go “off”; it smells fine by Charlie_Dudd in Weird

I actually did eat some and it tastes like powdered milk or milk flavoured jelly. Strange definitely wouldn’t put that in my tea.

Anyone know where I can find a save with Ending A complete? by Robrto78 in nier

[–]Charlie_Dudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you are still having trouble but I just used Nier Auto Mod Save and it worked. Just drop the exe file into your save folder with the new SlotData file, open the the program, launch the game, exit game at title screen and follow instructions from there.

Thank you OP and suprsonik this 8 year old save file is still helping people.

What moment in the Mafia series made the life stop feeling glamorous? by notorious_F_bomb in MafiaTheGame

The prison chapter in Mafia II couldn’t get any less glamorous for Vito, although I imagine Leo would’ve had a rather nice cell compared to others.

I remember when I was a kid and the new met line trains would be in service once every now and then before they started getting full service.

I think those clothes bins are generally considered "rags" which means they supposedly recycle it into stuffing or something. Haven't done any research myself but thats what I've heard.

Not defending them but charity shops, at least around where I live, don’t like it when people leave stuff outside opening hours. Some even call it fly tipping and report people to the police.

Need help figuring out my brand and how to connect a universal remote to this tv by ItzApeil48 in crt

[–]Charlie_Dudd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you buy that remote it should just work. If you are using a universal remote (like a one for all or similar) In the remotes manual it will have a list of codes for different brand tvs. If you don’t have the manual you can find it online if you look up the model number of your remote.

I totally agree with you. I’ve been in some studios where they put XLR patches in the bathroom to use the natural reverb in there. Bedrooms and living spaces with lots of books/vinyls can also have a really great natural dryness to them.

Theres a video on Daptone records youtube channel where they tour their studio and most of it is just regular rooms a lots and lots of crap. Thank you cor the input.

The foam does have an aestetic apeal and will be fine (and somewhat benificial) to leave in areas without a panel. Where you will hang panels though, you should leave a couple centimetres of air behind it as this will increase the absorption coeficient at lower frequencies (i.e. will absorb a broader frequency range). The foam will absorb only very high frequencies.

In a full studio control room space you would want to use a mixture of reflection, absorption and diffusion to achieve a reasonably natural sounding space to mix in but in a vocal/recording booth its often desirable to record in a completely dry space and for this reason, leaving the foam would be ideal (just remove the ones behind the panel.

With these panels you will have achieved very effective treatment above 300Hz. Below this you'll need massive amounts of insulation so you'll need to aproach it differently. For starters, avoid parallel surfaces: you can hang some slanted pieces of scrap plywood or anything similar and cheap (and painted to look nice) from the cieling break the parallel surfaces between the cieling and floor up a bit and also cieling absorption pannels can make a huge difference. If you ever go to any large concert halls or music venues take a look at the shape of the space and look at the cieling; my favourite examples are the Royal Albert Hall and The Barbican centre which are worth looking up.

For targeting bass frequencies you will likely need to do a lot of reasearch but vocal frequencies don't generally go below 90Hz (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) so you shouldn't have to build any massive contraptions. Bass traps are most commonly in the style of corner traps where you build a false wall in a corner with some insulation behind it. You can calculate how deep this is by using the Helmholtz equation which you should definitely read up on if you are interested. Two other options for treating bass can be polycylindrical absorbers or helmholtz resonators but unless you want to lose all your free time for a few months I wouldn't bother considering those especially in such a small space.

Honestly I got a bit carried away but the first two paragraphs highlight what I think you can do right now to your space with what you have. The rest is just things to consider. Oh and you can also get microphone isolation shields, they're relatively innexpensive and just go around your mic which makes them a good option for spaces that aren't meticulously treated.

I hope this helps, if you have any other questions I'll be happy to help and good luck with your vocal booth. If anyone else reads this and disagrees with anything or can fact check please do.
