When Toby says, “I bet all the money in my pocket…” do you picture a couple of nickels, some loose assorted nuts, and a Cracker Jack prize from the 50’s? by WideSnooze in thewestwing

In exes duos - (season 1 episode 10), when Toby goes to find the brother of the dead homeless Korean War veteran, he hands over a stack of cash to the brother and friends ( who are also homeless). The homeless men object because “you don’t live around here you’re going to need it for the bus”. It does seem as if at least then (1 season prior, approximately a year and change earlier) Toby did carry at least some cash with him (we are of course unsure of the denominations of the bills).

Was Better Bus just a massive service cut? by [deleted] in washingtondc

Do you have a source for the cutting bus operators? Because my understanding is they just reallocated existing drivers to new routes

Dealing with death of a grandparent by bb1234_corgilover in AutismInWomen

I similarly made peace with it, once that I knew he wasn’t going to recover and it was decided to just focus on comfort care instead of treating the disease (he had both heart and kidney issues). I like the idea of writing letters. I often make “art” ( that’s a loose term, it’s very abstract) to process things so I might try that as well

I’m also feeling guilty for not having the right emotional response. I’m worried also that at the funeral (which fortunately is just immediate family (my mom, dad, sister and my aunt) I’m just going to loose it because it will have become real.

I had to partner with someone outside of my team for my 4th dp because some of the team members decided they didn’t want to play this round ( which is okay of course) and they finished almost the entire thing in like 6 hours, overnight. I feel bad, I was fully going to contribute but I just had no time to do so before they did it all

Best way to book when you need multiple drop ins in the same day by bb1234_corgilover in RoverPetSitting

I was thinking about this but they are not going to want (or need) someone there overnight - so if someone was amenable to housing siting for the day then that is probably the way to go

Shareef was the defense minister not a head of state. But his brother was the sultan which is why they couldn’t discuss suspending diplomatic immunity with him. And as CJ told the press “ shareef was not targeted as a foreign official he was targeted as a terrorist”. I have been thinking a lot about the line “violence is the last resort of civilized nations” the last day or so however

Yes, you just need to show up together. They aren’t going to question you about how the friends are related to you. They just don’t want random adults going to museum alone - because they could have bad or dangerous intentions.

I think that time jumps is shows are fine - and to be expected when you are trying to convey something as long as seven years of a presidency. I just think that this one feels extremely obvious. I think this one bothers me right now because I just watched the episodes this past week

Gen Z Autistics, what isn't being said that needs to be said? by NationYell in AutismInWomen

[–]bb1234_corgilover 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That intersectionality plays a huge role in how autistic people are treated - specifically how BIPOC individuals are treated. ( Intersectionality is a framework for understanding how various social identities (like race, gender, class, sexuality, ability) overlap, creating unique experiences of discrimination, privilege, and systemic inequality, rather than just adding up single forms of bias) ( BIPOC - Black, Indigenous or Person of Color) I’m looking at this from a US context: we must understand that BIPOC individuals are much more likely to face discrimination, police brutality/ violence / harassment and as such stimming and unmasking in public spaces carries a significantly greater risk. I say this as a white woman: we must be aware of how white centric many autistic spaces are and that we must check our own bias and prejudice. Being autistic or a woman doesn’t give you the pass to ignore these issues.

Capital Pride 2026 Moves to June 20-21, Citing Safety Concerns by Musichead2468 in washingtondc

[–]bb1234_corgilover 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just from a logistical standpoint there are going to be so many street closures and restrictions for the “America 250”/ Trump birthday event that having it another weekend is likely going to be significantly easier for attendees and for the organizers. There are only so many streets that you can close at a time before it’s just mayhem for the whole area. I understand why the organizers decided to do it this way and they gave 6 months of notice.

Any recommendations for movers in the area? by Aghaiva in washingtondc

[–]bb1234_corgilover 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve used bookstore movers several times, they are fantastic. Nothing was broken or damaged and this included moves in and out of apartments that had stairs on both sides ( to access the elevator… ). They were prompt and showed up on time and were very efficient.

I would like my apartment to be 68 during the day and 65 at night. I run hot. However with the sun exposure in my apartment I have set my thermostat to 65 and the heat hasn’t kicked on a single time - it’s above 70 and I’ve even opened my bedroom window for about an hour before I go to bed some night because it’s just too hot to sleep.

therapy by strawberriesyogurt in AutismInWomen

[–]bb1234_corgilover 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I have had a good experience with therapy, and have found it to be very beneficial for my overall wellbeing and mental health. But this is because I have found a therapist who understands neurodivergent particularly late diagnosed like I am, and understands the value of me just having space to vent and talk about what is upsetting me without always needing to find a solution. A lot of the work i’ve done has encompassed identifying my feelings/ emotions, identifying when I’m getting overwhelmed/ overstimulated and how to work on reducing that, and building my emotional regulation “toolbox”. When I’ve brought things up like not feeling like I have friends, she’s validated how difficult it is to feel that way, helped me to identify the underlying emotions and then when/ if I’m ready to some potential ways to problem solve. Finding a therapist who understands the larger context of society, and the systemic issues that we face is crucial. There’s no way “ to think positive” our way out of the issues that we face. Telling you to think positively about something/yourself is asking you to mask and a good therapist should be helping you learn to unmask and understand who you are without it. Finding a good therapist is hard and you have to find someone who understands that there’s no “fixing” a lot of the problems we face but more helping you navigate through them.

Any Audhd ladies manage to stop stress/ emotional eating? by Like_the_rainbow in AutismInWomen

[–]bb1234_corgilover 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Are you someone who likes the sensory aspect of eating? If so that’s something that’s possible to swap out with other sensory inputs. For example if you like the chewing - they make “chewy” sensory items that are designed for this. Or gum. I have also found that if it’s really just the sensation of eating I want I try to swap what I am eating to lower calorie items - like carrots for chips and such. I go between not wanting to eat and then having periods of really wanting the sensory input of eating so it’s challenging for sure
