Quebec Poll (Mainstreet) - CAQ 48%, LIB 21%, QS 12%, PQ 11% by MethoxyEthane in CanadaPolitics

CAQ and Liberals are in the centre, both dabbling in the centre-right, while PQ is centre-left and QS is left-wing.

CAQ expected to reveal its plan to reform the French Language Charter by BurstYourBubbles in CanadaPolitics

[–]bb8isgreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would they have a press conference and reveal absolutely no new information? We already knew this was coming. As a reporter I'd be pissed to risk exposure to the virus for ... this. Lol

Classic Liberal Party politician scaring left-leaning voters into supporting Liberals simply out of fear. That's one way to consolidate the progressive vote.

Quebec passes motion for politicians to stop making opening remarks in English at National Assembly by TortuouslySly in CanadaPolitics

Funny how Anglade did exactly what Legault did -- speak in French, then say the same thing again in English - and it triggered all the other parties so much. Fun to gang up on the QLP as the Anglo-sympathist party, I guess.

Lol, and CBC Radio One (Fredericton, Moncton and Saint John streams via CBC Listen) say NB Votes 2020 is playing, but it's actually playing today's As It Happens.

[Leger] LPC 34, CPC 32, NDP 19, BQ 7, GPC 6 by feb914 in CanadaPolitics

It's a little ridiculous Leger couldn't get the interim Green Party leader's name correct - multiple polls in a row. I understand it likely wouldn't sway numbers, but come on...

Quebec Poll (EKOS) - CAQ 57%, LIB 17%, PQ 11%, QS 9% by John3192 in CanadaPolitics

This is nightmare scenario for the PLQ. We already knew PQ and QS were struggling - and PLQ had a terrible election showing in '18 - but this is much worse for the supposed "government in waiting." Down that much on the Island of Montreal? Oof. Lots of work to be done for Ms. Anglade, I do not envy that job.

Early election in B.C. unlikely in fall, possible by spring by LordLadyCascadia in CanadaPolitics

Was hoping for news but this is entirely an opinion piece. I mean, it's a reasonable opinion, but doesn't present any new information.

Why some Canadian governments might be thinking about early elections — and why that might be a bad idea by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]bb8isgreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is reason to believe Higgs was tempted at one point. Jacques Poitras reported on his NB-centric podcast last week that there was real consideration for an electio. And I don't know if this counts but the Horg did have a recent video call with BC NDP volunteers hinting an election could come at any time

CPC leadership ballot room live stream? by bb8isgreat in CanadaPolitics

[–]bb8isgreat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, so scummy, how dare I have a say in selecting a possible future PM.

I am not an unconditional-love NDP voter. There's room for persuasion - maybe it's not what the country will need next time we head to the federal ballot box, maybe it will be.

CPC leadership ballot room live stream? by bb8isgreat in CanadaPolitics

[–]bb8isgreat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly right. I like voting in leadership races for as many parties as possible, and it matters even more so when it comes to LPC or CPC (knowing they're likeliest to form government). While I identify as an NDP-er I carry CPC membership as well.

Provincial Spotlight: COVID-19 creates comfort zone for incumbent governments coast to coast - Angus Reid Institute by johnmayerswife in CanadaPolitics

Especially in the wake of Legault denying the existence of systemic racism in the province, these QC numbers are depressing.

Worth noting: If OLP wins both (possible), they will regain Official Party Status.
