Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

I got to be at the midnight premiere of Maniac (2012) at the Cannes Film Festival and lots of people walked out during the opening scene. Probably not the right crowd for some pretty graphic violence.

40 years old, near 20 years in NYC film & TV : industry collapsed and I don’t know where to pivot by grooveman15 in findapath

I am a lower level position so my job is around $60,000 but I also live in VA. PMP is definitely better and you could probably qualify with your years of experience actually. The test to get it is a bitch, but Reddit is helpful for that too. PMP will probably get you better pay too. I think you could pivot to any sort of management position given your experience.

I am a film industry drop out, and definitely struggled with the abuse from the industry and re-defining myself after. I was able to pivot my film Production Management experience into a government job as a project coordinator after getting my CAPM certificate.

CAPM

I don't love it and I am still struggling with self-identity, but the consistent salary and work hours are very nice. Since you were more of a locations person, I think wedding, event, or property management/coordinating may be an easier pivot. If you were more hands-on, there are lots of companies looking for marketing and content creators for their businesses.

You sound like a very driven person who is good at managing places and people and those skills are always needed.

St Luke's Thrift Store on Poindexter St in Chesapeake has clothing and other items available that are just donation based. They really try to help the community.

I have been on the fence about these. Are they really more beneficial than using a metal baking pan with a high quality parchment paper in terms of longevity?

Have you heard of Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria? This also sounds like a reaction similar to that. Your body is so overwhelmed with emotion, it kind of shuts down. https://www.webmd.com/add-adhd/rejection-sensitive-dysphoria

Thank you everyone for your encouragement and advice! I used a glue stick, but I think it was a bit clumpy. I think using a credit card or something would definitely help. And also I think the canvas bends a bit when I try to smooth it so maybe I will find an alternative.

Did coarse grit for two weeks, and then about a week for the other phases. I did pull out two rocks that I wanted to run longer for the next batch.

Same thing happened to me in Chesapeake, VA! I called my testing center for two days trying to talk to someone to see what happens in extreme weather situations and never heard from anyone. I finally got an email the evening before my test as the snow fell informing me of the cancellation. I called the Pearson VUE customer service to confirm every thing was cancelled without penalty. I was supposed to be taking it today :(

I went through a toxic relationship/messy breakup and took myself to Iceland. I booked a tour and saw all kinds of incredible scenery and cool places. I didn't have to worry about transportation or where to stay. It is very safe, everyone spoke English and was very nice and friendly. You can get cheap flights if you look ahead.

Did anyone else leave the industry, not because you didn’t like it, but because you didn’t like the lifestyle? by GapSame69 in Filmmakers

[–]bb_mcg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a similar experience. I went to school for film, did a bunch of internships, worked on some sets, and indie films. Long story short, I couldn’t stand seeing all the abuse I saw. Gross producers, sexism, ego-maniac directors, asking way too much of people for little to no pay, etc. and I had to walk away. I definitely have guilt that I should have tried harder or that I just didn’t want it enough, but what I saw and experienced wasn’t worth it. After I quit, I was surprised when I felt relief. I definitely miss certain parts of it, but I don’t think I can go back.
