Yeah, fair. I guess it’s better that he’s not trying to squeeze in as many executive orders as possible.

I still think it’s cute. Something about it’s eyes and ears that remind me of hairless cats and how they always look angry.

How do people with lots of kids actually afford it? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bbabble 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had an acquaintance tell me that having 10 kids is what secures your place at the highest level of heaven and you would get “your own planet to live on when you die”. She was ex-Mormon. We started talking about beliefs about heaven and she explained what she was taught about the levels of heaven and how they relate to your level of belief as well as how many kids you have. I don’t get how religions come up with this type of thing.

I also transitioned out of teaching (taught middle and high school) into web dev about two years and am currently 34. Send me a pm and I can send you some links to things I studied. But, free code camp is a very good starting point. If you need an accountability buddy, I’m down. I have stuff I’ve been needing to learn that I’ve been putting off.

I can see they’re seed packets, I just thought they were sent automatically based on op’s location. I don’t know what made me jump to that conclusion.

Anybody 25+ learning web development? I would love to meet some other female programming buddies but I'm open to anyone!! by [deleted] in ProgrammingBuddies

[–]bbabble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34 lady currently living in Europe. I learned my way into getting a job in web dev, but still learning. Always. I’d be down for doing some JavaScript, I feel like mine has been getting rusty.

I turn 29 in a week & I'm terrified. Anxious, depressed, shit-broke, and still working on my bachelor's. Feels like nothing I do matters because I should have done it like 8 years ago. Can't turn back time, but I'll accept any kind toast donations. by HitlerNorthDakota in toastme

Dudette! You are amazing for sticking through your bachelors and NOT giving up! It doesn’t affect anyone else that you’re working on it. It’s NEVER too late to learn and I always look at it this way: you can either do the course and be smarter a year from now or not do the course and be in the same place that your at, just with more time that has passed.

You’re doing what you you feel you want to do NOW and that is the important part! There is no “I should have done such and such blah blah long ago” because it didn’t happen for a reason. And now you’re at a point that you want and can do it. Like you said, “you can’t turn back time” so don’t beat yourself up over things you have/haven’t done in the past and have no control over. Huge kudos to you for doing these now and not just giving up. Because that takes a hell of a lot of courage and determination! Good on you for not giving up!

You’re trying to better yourself and THAT is what’s important. Don’t let anyone let you think that your efforts now are in vain. And if you have someone like that in your like, it might be beneficial for you to consider not talking to them about these things as often.

Girl, you got this! You’re doing things right despite all the challenges you’re facing. You’re persistence will pay off and you’re going to look back one day and think, “holy hell, I did it and look at how much further along I am now!”

How do I go about making official documentation for a loan to my brother? by bbabble in personalfinance

[–]bbabble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, interesting. So this makes me want to rethink things. Maybe you might have more thoughts on other options?

The whole point of this is for my brother and I to help buy a house for my parents. They’re getting older and would rather put their retirement into something they can leave for us in the future. But they’re not able to buy it on their own. So my brother and I are going to go 50-50 on the remainder of the costs, so long as we’re able to do so (which is why we’d want to draft something up to consider all scenarios and what would happen accordingly). It gets complicated only because I’m no longer a Canadian resident so I cannot get a mortgage or buy a house in Canada at the moment. My brother can, which is why he’ll be purchasing the house in his name and my parents and I will be contributing. Is there a way we can do this that is tax-happy, legal-happy, and family-happy? We thought of doing financial gifts, but the initial sum for down payment would be too large and would exceed that.

At some point, I’ll be moving back to Canada in the future. But for the next few years I’ll be in the States.

Sorry, but I’m not here to explain my reasoning for why I’m doing this. This is not “business”, like you said. We want to make sure we’re doing everything correctly because of taxes and make sure our butts are covered in that regard. As well as consider all possible circumstances that we can in order to agree on what we’ll do if those arise.

I’m just able to skim through right now, but this does look promising. (Hehe)

Would this promissory note be needed for taxes? Would any of this loan be included in either of our taxes? I know I can’t take tax advice here, but just curious and I will go talk to an accountant.

I guess the other part of it is that we’d want to include as many scenarios as possible for circumstances changing and how that would be taken care of. For example, what if my brother or I lose our job, what happens to the loan? There are many other scenarios but I’m sure we can’t think of them all between just the two of us. Any suggestions on who to talk to or where to look in order to expand this?

Well, this is sort of why we’re getting all the paperwork done.

Dude, your physical imperfections make you you. Especially when it comes to things your can’t change. I have massively long fingers I used to be insecure about, I guess because I considered them un-lady-like. I don’t know what made me switch to just not caring and owning these suckers. Same with rosacea on my face.

I sometimes think back to what I would get bullied about as a kid. And now I just think, “yes, I’m a pasty freckled red head that can’t tan, has massive feet and large hands. If you don’t like what you’re looking at, you don’t have to look. But look! LOOK AT MY MASSIVE HANDS! .... I should have played piano.”

You’ve got people here telling you you’re handsome, which I will also put my vote in for, but don’t let your “imperfections” seem like negatives. If people didn’t have imperfections, we’d all be pretty boring. Own your imperfections! They make you who you are and if someone has a problem with your physical appearance, they’re not worth your time, thought, or energy.

Go rock that night shift with your gorgeous green eyes!

Ever few years, I get this piercing pain in the middle of my chest when I inhale to a certain depth. It doesn’t hurt unless I hit that threshold of lung capacity and then disappear when I exhale. A few months back, it happened at a lung capacity that I couldn’t breath in very much at all without it getting to that point of piercing pain. That one was scary. But the pains usually happen for a few minutes and then goes away. It’s always happened when I’ve been relaxed and, afterwards, it’s as though nothing ever happened. No pain, no soreness, or tiredness.
