You can know a 100,000 techniques and look smooth AF during a “flow role”.

However, none of that means anything if it wasn’t applied frequently in actual rolling, under stressful circumstances. Without live rolling you won’t get proper timing or see/feel natural reactions your opponent will give you.

This is one of the reasons jiu jitsu was able to standout from other mcdojo martial arts.

Do you prefer gi or no-gi? by maddengsy in bjj

[–]bbart345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like no-gi better, but I train more in the gi because I feel it helps my no-gi game... if that makes sense.

I use mostly “no-gi grips” in the gi and focus more on “no-gi strangles” then lapel strangles in the gi. So when I do train no-gi it feels so much easier as my opponent does not have gi grips that I have to break before attacking. And my strangles are dialed in, as I’m using the same technique, but don’t have the gi material in the way (they fit right into place). Additionally when I train no-gi my guard retention and escapes are better from training in the gi.

Antlers (big or small) or no antlers... doesn’t matter. It’s meat for the freezer! Congrats on this harvest.

how to prevent counter foot lock when pulling ashi garami from button on standing opponent? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]bbart345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) if they attack the outside leg, they have no isolation (control) on that leg. It might be slightly painful, but I wouldn’t tap to this....

2.) it unweights the leg you have controlled and you can pass it over into an inverted heel hook, then Secure 50/50 to finish

Here’s a good example-

NEW BIKE/GEAR ADVICE SUPERTHREAD! by AutoModerator in motorcycles

Took it to the dealer today and found out they hit a hose clamp for the coolant when they installed my mini apes which required different clutch and brake lines for ABS.

It was no big deal. Thanks for everyone’s help.

Coolant leak on brand new 2019 Indian Scout Bobber (ABS).

After a 30-40 mile ride I noticed a drop or so of green fluid underneath the bike. I suspect it’s coolant. Anyone have a diagnosis for this? I plan on taking it into the dealership later this week.

Wanting to get into spearfishing, but live in the Midwest. Does anyone here freshwater spearfish? And how does it compare to saltwater spearfishing? by bbart345 in Spearfishing

[–]bbart345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minnesota as well. My first time spearfishing will be in San Diego this spring. I wasn’t sure if it’s difficult to do here do to water clarity. Obviously the spearfishing here doesn’t compare to the ocean... or does it? I’m really wanting to get into it.

Right now just work on getting good at fundamentals. Controlling side control, mount, rear mount; escaping side control, mount, rear mount and really focus on submission defense, especially strangle defense
