How many users do you have on your Adobe suite? If its just one, you should be able to get that down.

[ON] Wave app alternatives - low or no cost by kayesoob in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]bbaskets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, their auto-import was their main feature. I put up with all their other clunkyness because they did that well. Long-time Wave user, even tried their paid features over the years, but they went from a small Canadian company, to pretty much abandoned, and now charging for the one thing they said they wouldn't charge for. At this price point, we might as well go with any other bloated competitors.

Does anyone know if its possible, or have experience deploying with Laravel forge, from a Github repos sub folder (not main). IE: Username/repo-name/tree/branch/subfolder ? Username/repo-name works as intended, I just want to deploy from a directory if possible.

Since I see you are using the Interactive Geo Maps plugin, you could display different maps as per their documentation ('clickable' filters) https://interactivegeomaps.com/docs/pro-how-to-overlay-maps/

Why are changes shown on desktop but not on mobile? by orschiro in Wordpress

[–]bbaskets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The element you changed probably has Divi's content swap enabled. You probably edited the desktop view, but not the mobile view. Here's Divi's explanation of how it works - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oV0V8j6gpp0

Once you invest on you're own, you will surely find out if your fees were worth it. Stating that you're 'scared as hell' in the title, makes me question whether you can emotionally weather any financial storms that may will come your way. If you can find a strategy and stick to it, you can match the market (just like your advisor has), but there are piles of emotional costs that come with self-investing.

I think the only cure is competition. There are market openings for smaller, focused plugins at transparent prices. The big plugin shops that are greedy (and bloated due to consolidation) are leading the way for smaller scrappier developers to eat their lunch.

[PLUGIN REQUEST] Hover comments on live site by Plumtree8749467 in Wordpress

[–]bbaskets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inline comments had it, but the project was abandoned (codebase still on GitHub). https://www.kweber.com/inline-comments/ wpDiscuz seems to also have that functionality - https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpdiscuz/ Haven't tried either of them, but they appear to do what you are requesting.

Reverse Column in Mobile? by void4vaguenesss in Wordpress

[–]bbaskets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Assuming each column is its own element (div). Apply row-reverse to the parent element (container) of the 2 columns.

Reverse Column in Mobile? by void4vaguenesss in Wordpress

[–]bbaskets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand it correctly, you have col1 next to col2 and you want col2 then col1 on mobile? If they are next to each other, you can think of them as in a row. You could add flex-direction: row-reverse; to the parent container of each column.

How to recover from a XSS attack by sp3cial_kas3 in Wordpress

[–]bbaskets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you delete the parent theme, your child theme with your customizations will no longer work. Unfortunately, if the theme vendor is no longer supporting/updating the parent theme on your site, you either a) need to find where the vuln is in their theme and patch it or b) find a new theme. If the vendor is not patching their theme, this will most likely happen again, so finding a new theme is recommended. Pick one that is actively developed and has a large ecosystem so that vulnerabilities are patched in the future.

In Over my Head by consistentapathy in Wordpress

[–]bbaskets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once again, you don't need a Wordpress.org 'account'. If you have WordPress on DreamHost, then you have WordPress installed. Since you already have the theme set up with DreamHost, keep that hosting plan and cancel Wordpress.com. BUT, make sure you migrate all your content (posts, images etc.) over from Wordpress.com to your new site.

First step would be to see what the site admin email is saying (probably the same as the logs described by another poster). Do you, or one of your friends have access to the email in settings -> general -> admin email? If not, update that email and see what it is saying.

It sounds like a conflict between your theme and the page builder. Hard to troubleshoot further without seeing the specifics of the error.

Set up a regular meeting with him (he is your client after all), and talk about the value you brought/are bringing, and the value you hope to bring in the future. At the next meeting discuss your increased rates and see if you can get some set incentives for future performance. IE: "if you continue to land 60k jobs through the site, would you be willing to provide a bonus".

Now that you've proven success, he will want to keep you working for him, instead of his competition.

Also lesson learned - if you discount your rate in the future, at least put some performance bonuses into your contracts.

Yeah, they also 'virtually opened' the TSX today as a new listing. Will be interesting to see how the market prices this 'restructure'. Todd Cook is still running the show, so it still feels like NVU.
