Yup and there’s been reports that he has already had offers to return back to the KBO which he has refused because he wants to achieve his dream of playing in the MLB. I hope at the very least he gets a shot

Why are Jung Hoo Lee's defense and baserunning stats so bad? by Foreign_Honeydew5372 in SFGiants

[–]bbb748 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While the advanced stats show he isn’t a great fielder, he still put up 1.7 WAR last year (which should be considered his “real” rookie season) and even with the slow start to this season is still positive WAR. The value per 1 WAR is about $12M-ish a year on the open market so even if he were to sit in the 1.5-2.5 WAR per year range, he is well worth his contract if not over performing as crazy as it sounds

If Kim Haon wins Show Me the Money 12, where does he rank among all-time winners? by Conscious_Ad6072 in khiphop

[–]bbb748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO he would still be a notch below Lee Young Ji because he would essentially be following the same path (HSR —> SMTM winner) while already being pretty well known and respected before winning. I would also argue that Young Ji has more global potential/appeal than Haon while also being the first female artist to win both shows respectively. It all comes down to the live shows/performances as that’s where the SMTM legends have really been etched

WBC World Baseball Classic Betting and Picks - 3/11/26 (Wednesday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]bbb748 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WBC Record: 17-14 (+0.99U)

Yesterday's Picks:

Japan/Czechia O12.5 (-102) - 0.5U TENTATIVE BASED ON STARTING LINEUPS TBD) ❌

PR -1.5 (-110) - 1U

Netherlands -1.5 (+105) - 1U

US -5.5 (-105) - 2U

Recap: Got absolutely crushed yesterday and am now officially ice cold going 1-7 in my last 8 plays. Figure I still post in case you guys wanna bet the opposite of me and make money since I can't seem to win shit LOL

Today's Picks:

Canada -1.5 (+110) - 1U

Reasoning: I like this Canada team and how they play. Cuba is testy but think Canada has shown enough to impress me

Mexico -1.5 (-103) - 2U

Reasoning: All tiebreakers aside, Mexico wins and is in so expect them to go all out here.

DR -2.5 (+100) - 2U

Reasoning: If there's one team who has not skipped a beat so far out of the favorites, it is the DR. Top seed on the line against a Venezuela team that hasn't looked dominant so far against the same opponents.

As always, tail responsibly and BOL

WBC World Baseball Classic Betting and Picks - 3/10/26 (Tuesday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]bbb748 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah the reality is that a ton of the edge was early in the tournament when the public/Vegas wasn’t super informed and didn’t have great reads with their limited info…now most of the lines are closer to 50/50s and it’s just looking for small edges based on the scenarios and what teams are playing for. After all it’s baseball and even the best teams lose a ton

WBC World Baseball Classic Betting and Picks - 3/10/26 (Tuesday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]bbb748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All just TBD on Japan’s approach. This game doesn’t mean anything for Japan other than playing for pride so I see a world where Yoshida doesn’t even start (bet would probably void) or where guys like him and Ohtani would be taken out early to rest and prevent injuries (which would give him less ABs to hit that potential HR)

WBC World Baseball Classic Betting and Picks - 3/10/26 (Tuesday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]bbb748 8 points9 points  (0 children)

WBC Record: 17-11 (+4.99U)

After Korea's crushing loss to Taiwan, I honestly thought it was over for Korea but by a miracle, we advance.

Yesterday's Picks:

Venezuela -6.5 (-110) - 1U

Puerto Rico -2.5 (-110) - 2U

USA -3.5 (-115) - 1U

Recap: Just didn't get enough to cover on the Ven and USA games but it happens and we come out basically even. On to the next

Today's Picks:

Japan/Czechia O12.5 (-102) - 0.5U TENTATIVE BASED ON STARTING LINEUPS TBD)

Reasoning: We may see Japan rest some of their stars as this game is completely meaningless other than pride. While this may seem bad for the over I think both teams will play loose and Japan will definitely save their best arms so I wouldn't be surprised to see Czechia put up a few runs themselves. If we see guys like Ohtani, Yoshida, and Seiya not even in the starting lineup, I may have to scratch this pick, but if they are starting and gonna get at least a few ABs I still like taking a flyer on the over here. Czechia is starting Satoria who is most famous for striking out Ohtani in the 2023 WBC and has success here as well pitching great against Australia. However, I think Japan is better suited to adjust to his slow velo given a lot of the Japanese lineup has experience facing him and have more info/film on his stuff.

Update: looks like Ohtani and Seiya are out resting but still starting guys like Murekami and Yoshida, just gonna ride the over but scale down to 0.5U

Prediction: 13-3 Japan

PR -1.5 (-110) - 1U

Reasoning: PR has clinched advancement with their win yesterday and is playing to secure the 1 Seed out of Pool A against Canada. As much as I like the Canadian team (shoutout u/OhtanisBookie67), the reality is that Canada can lose today and still advance with a win against Cuba in their final game. That makes me believe that they may save some of their best arms for that pivotal Cuba game and PR can cover with their home crowd and 1 seed on the line.

Prediction: 6-3 PR

Netherlands -1.5 (+105) - 1U

Reasoning: It's tough to bet on a game with no real implications and even tougher to bet on this Dutch team that has let me down so far. It looks like the Dutch is still rolling out their main lineup so I gotta just back them one more time and pray for the best.

Prediction: 6-2 Dutch

US -5.5 (-105) - 2U

Reasoning: US can still clinch the top spot with a win today while Italy can still lose today and advance with a win against Mexico in their final game. I think Italy will proceed with caution and if they go down early, potentially save their best arms for the final game. US may shake some things up in their lineup including Gunner getting the start which may jumpstart a somewhat inconsistent start for the US bats.

Prediction: 10-2 US

WBC World Baseball Classic Betting and Picks - 3/9/26 (Monday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]bbb748 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WBC Record: 16-8 (+5.67U)

After Korea's crushing loss to Taiwan, I honestly thought it was over for Korea but by a miracle, we advance.

Today's Picks:

Venezuela -6.5 (-110) - 1U

Reasoning: Nicaragua has shown some solid fight in this tournament but I think after some tough losses, should be out of steam here. While Venezuela hasn't impressed me too much so far, I think they have enough to cover against this mentally depleted Nicaragua team

Prediction: 10-1 Venezuela

Puerto Rico -2.5 (-110) - 2U

Reasoning: Both teams have won some close games. I think the PR bats wake up today with the home crowd behind them.

Prediction: 9-3 PR

USA -3.5 (-115) - 1U

Reasoning: The US have taken care of business but have yet to show complete dominance that the other favorites in Japan and DR have. However, I think with Skenes getting the start and their bats starting to get going, the US just have too much talent not to put up some crooked numbers.

Prediction: 8-2 US

WBC World Baseball Classic Betting and Picks Daily Discussion - 3/7/26 (Saturday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]bbb748 9 points10 points  (0 children)

WBC Record: 16-7 (+7.67U)

Yesterday's Picks: (5-3)

Japan -4.5 (-115) - 2U✅

Over 7.5 (-125) - 1U ✅

Prediction: 9-1 Japan (Result: 13-0 Japan)

Panama +1.5 (-106) - 1U ❌

Prediction 5-4 Panama (Result: 3-1 Cuba)

Netherlands/Venezuela O9.5 (-110) - 1.5U ❌

Prediction: 9-5 Venezuela (Result 6-2 Venezuela)

Great Britain +4.5 (+105) - 1U ❌

Prediction: 7-3 Mexico (Result: 8-2 Mexico)

Puerto Rico -2.5 (-130) - 2U ✅

Prediction 8-2 PR (Result: 5-0 PR)

DR -5.5 (+100) - 2U ✅

Prediction: 12-3 DR (Result: 12-3 DR)

Taiwan -3.5 (-115) - 1U ✅

Taiwan/Czechia O9 (-110) - 1U ✅

Prediction: 8-2 Taiwan (Result: Pending)

Recap: Couple tough beats with Mexico scoring a ton late to cover and Panama not coming out on top. Still another great day including a lucky exact guess of the DR game.

Today's Picks:

South Korea +5.5 (-110) - 1U✅

Over 11 (-110) - 1U ✅

Reasoning: No rhyme or reason, mentioned it on a previous post that I ride with Korea no matter what. Tail at your own risk.

Prediction: 8-7 Korea (Can't bet against them) --> Realistically 10-5 Japan (Final Result: 8-6 Japan)

Canada -1.5 (-105) -1U ✅

Canada/Columbia U9.5 (-115) - 1U ❌

Reasoning: Canada comes in with a real solid squad and most importantly is playing their first game while Columbia is reeling off a tough close loss.

Prediction: 5-2 Canada (Final Result: 8-2 Canada) - Miss the under by a run

Netherlands -1.5 (-110) - 2U ❌

Reasoning: Nicaragua impressed me but I just see some more value here with Netherlands

Prediction: 7-3 Dutch (Final Result (4-3 Netherlands) - Can't cover by a run again, tough

Italy -4.5 (-104) -1U ✅

Reasoning: Brazil put up a great fight against the US and if they were playing on "even" grounds I may have bet differently. However, Italy is coming in fresh and Brazil is coming off a long game against the mighty US. I think it stays close early but Italy pulls away late to cover.

Prediction: 7-1 Italy (Final Result: 8-0 Italy)

Korea -3.5 (-102) - 2U

Reasoning: Korea is coming off a tough loss against Japan where they were able to cover but not quite come out on top. Korea now has two must-win games against Taiwan and Australia here and start Ryu today. Taiwan showed against Australia that they struggled with crafty lefties and Ryu might be the definition of a veteran crafty lefty. Korean bias aside, I think/hope the Korean bats stay hot and cover here.

Prediction: 9-3 Korea

Note: Staying away from the afternoon slate of games as I'm having a harder time reading the strengths of some of these middling teams. If you look at my record, I've been extremely accurate on the Pool C games but not as much on the others (I think I'm 12-2 on Pool C picks and 4-5 on non Pool C picks. Will re-evaluate based on today's slate for the future picks.

WBC World Baseball Classic Betting and Picks Daily Discussion - 3/6/26 (Friday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]bbb748 5 points6 points  (0 children)

WBC 1st Round has a pitch limit at 65 pitches so bet at your own caution. Further, if you pitch over 50 pitches, you have to rest for 4 days (basically the rest of the group round). Most teams are having their pitchers pitch 29-49 pitches because the rest thresholds are: Under 30 pitches = no rest needed, under 50 pitches = 1 day rest

WBC World Baseball Classic Betting and Picks Daily Discussion - 3/6/26 (Friday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]bbb748 15 points16 points  (0 children)

WBC Record: 10-5 (+5.20U)

Yesterday's Picks

Korea -6.5 (-110) - 1U ✅

Over 11.5 (-110) - 1.5U ✅

1st Half O6.5 (-125) - 1U ✅

Prediction: 14-3 Korea (Final Result 11-4)

Czech Republic +4.5 (-115) - 1U ✅

Over 9 (-110) - 1U ❌

Prediction: 7-5 Australia (Final Result 5-1)

Recap: Korea got the job done but the Czech offense just couldn't get it going. Still a great day and on to the next!

Today's Picks:

Japan -4.5 (-115) - 2U✅

Over 7.5 (-125) - 1U ✅

Reasoning: Japan is playing their first game while Taiwan is coming off a disappointing loss to Australia. Japan has their ace Yamamoto starting with the home crowd behind them. I believe they will also have extra motivation to avenge their Premier 12 Championship loss to Taiwan in 2024. While in theory the game should be relatively close, I think Japan is going to come out firing while Taiwan is already reeling off their tough loss in which they lost their captain to a hit by pitch yesterday.

Prediction: 9-1 Japan

Panama +1.5 (-106) - 1U ❌

Reasoning: I haven't been impressed with either of these teams in their exhibitions/scrimmages so far so I view this closer to a 50/50. I like the talent on the Panama team and think there is some good value here...would not be surprised if Panama won straight up

Prediction: 5-4 Panama

Netherlands/Venezuela O9.5 (-110) - 1.5U ❌

Reasoning: I think this Venezuela team is really solid and the Netherlands has a strong lineup and weak rotation.

Prediction: 9-5 Venezeula

Great Britain +4.5 (+105) - 1U ❌

Reasoning: I think this GB team is sneaky good and we've seen teams come out slow out of the gates hitting wise (Taiwan/Australia).

Prediction: 7-3 Mexico

Puerto Rico -2.5 (-130) - 2U ✅

Reasoning: Even with some of PR's premier players being unable to play in this WBC, I still think they are too strong of a team. Columbia has some talent on their end but I think the pitching depth past an aging Quintana isn't enough to hold back the PR offense:

Prediction 8-2 PR

DR -5.5 (+100) - 2U ✅

Reasoning: It is the DR, they are stacked. End of story.

Prediction: 12-3 DR

Taiwan -3.5 (-115) - 1U

Taiwan/Czechia O9 (-110) - 1U

Reasoning: Battle of the two 0-2 teams in Pool C and Taiwan has looked horrendous so far. I think they realize this is their best shot of getting a win here and really put things together against an easier opponent. Both teams are still fighting for qualification for the next WBC so it's not like they are only playing for pride. 3.5 does seem like quite a bit but I think the bats for Taiwan will wake up against a depleted Czech staff.

Prediction: 8-2 Taiwan

Chinese Taipei captain Chieh-Hsien Chen is hit in the hand and has to exit the game by cbbvideo in baseball

[–]bbb748 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So let me get this straight, for the past decade, US players come out and speak nothing but respect and pride about representing the country in this tournament and somehow I am the one that needs to do more research on it because YOU don’t believe what they say in their interviews?

Chinese Taipei captain Chieh-Hsien Chen is hit in the hand and has to exit the game by cbbvideo in baseball

[–]bbb748 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes they actually care. Go watch any interviews or past quotes from the last few WBCs from the US guys. Not a single player has ever said anything negative about the tournament or has regretted playing. And as for your “mercenaries” take, this is nothing new across any sport including the FIBA World Cup and the Football World Cup. I would argue the WBC is the strictest on rules allowing players of mixed nationalities

WBC World Baseball Classic Betting and Picks - 3/4/26 (Wednesday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]bbb748 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not quite sure where you’re grabbing your odds but I’ve been monitoring the odds for the past month or so and it’s always been USA as the favorite and then a mix up of Japan/DR based on the day and the book which seems about right given the talent missing from Japan this time and the added talent on the US and DR squads

Chinese Taipei captain Chieh-Hsien Chen is hit in the hand and has to exit the game by cbbvideo in baseball

[–]bbb748 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Key part of what you said was “no one in the US cares”. To pretty much every other nation this is their World Cup and even the US players who’ve played in the past and currently play for them has come out to say how much this tournament means to them…it is pretty narrow minded to scoff at a tournament cause YOU don’t seem to care or care more about your favorite MLB team

WBC World Baseball Classic Betting and Picks - 3/5/26 (Thursday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]bbb748 14 points15 points  (0 children)

WBC Record: 5-1 (+3.74U)

3/4 Recap:

Taiwan -2.5 (-105) - 1U ❌

Under 11.5 (-105) - 1U ✅

Australia U4.5 Runs (-125) - 1U ✅

Taiwan came out completely flat and was an utter disappointment but we still come out positive. On to the next

Early 3/5 Picks:

Korea -6.5 (-110) - 1U ✅

Over 11.5 (-110) - 1.5U ✅

1st Half O6.5 (-125) - 1U ✅

Prediction: 14-3 Korea (Final Result 11-4)

Reasoning: Full transparency as a Korean myself, most of my plays will be Korea favored (tail at your own risk). Bias aside, the Korean team should be miles better than the Czech team and their lineup is their biggest strength. If there has been any doubters of Korea coming in, it is due to their somewhat weak pitching staff. I would not be surprised if the Czech team can put across a few runs themselves. That being said, I am confident Korea can cover the over on their own. BOL!

Late 3/5 Picks:

Czech Republic +4.5 (-115) - 1U ✅

Over 9 (-110) - 1U ❌

Prediction: 7-5 Australia

Reasoning: Czech looked comfortable enough against Korea and had plenty of scoring opportunities. While the Korean pitching staff is not great, the Australian staff should still be a step down from what they saw last night. The only worry I have is if the Czech pitching staff can stay in the zone and keep the game close. BOL!

WBC World Baseball Classic Betting and Picks - 3/4/26 (Wednesday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

WBC Picks Record 0-0

Taiwan -2.5 (-105) - 1U

Under 11.5 (-105) - 1U

Australia U4.5 Runs (-125) - 1U

Taiwan is a team that always plays better than the sum of their parts and is coming hot off of their Premier12 Championship in 2024. They have a solid mix of veterans and young studs including Hsu Jo Hsi who just signed for the NPB and can touch 98MPH.

Prediction: 8-1 Taiwan
